Kei Kamara’s Colorado Rapids first win in 12 games

Colorado Rapids won their first game in 12 Major League Soccer outings on Sunday night as they humbled LA Galaxy 1-0 at Dignity Health Sports Park.

The Rapids have struggled for results all season and prior to this match, they set a new MLS record for the worst 11-game start to a season.

Andre Shinyashiki was named Man of the Match as he was the Rapid’s hero with the only goal in the game.

It could have been Kei Kamara, whose shot was saved by David Bingham before Shinyashiki first-timed left-footed into an empty net in the 82nd minute to give the Rapids their first victory of the season.

Prior to Shinyashiki’s breakthrough, both teams had chances.

The host team was without key man Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who leads the team with nine goals this season. He was out serving the first of a two-game suspension for violent conduct.

The Rapids leading scorer expressed his delight on twitter below.

Striker Badara Kella Jr was delighted to be part of the Kamboi Eagles squad that defeated Central Parade 1-0 last Sunday at the Kenema Town playing field.

Kella had not been involved since injured against Diamond Stars in their opening league campaign in Kono.

“It’s been frustrating for me as I’ve been out for over two months. Got injured during our first match against diamond stars of Kono,” the former U23 attacker admitted.

However, the attacker, who scored his first International goal against Benin during the 2012-2013 WAFU competition, sounded positive with his recovery process.

“In this current league, due to injury, I have appeared in three matches with no goal recorded as yet,” he added.

“Although it has not been that smooth for me, however, I’ve been impressed with the teams’ present form. We have played good football so far, and we are hoping to end the season on a high spirit.”

Kamboi Eagle’s next outing will be against giant Mighty Blackpool both teams on 22 points on the current standings.

The Sierra Leonean striker has hit the ground running in Denmark since joining from Vendsyssel, where he scored four goals in nine appearances.

One of the goals he scored was against Randers in a 1-1 draw in April at Cepheus Park Randers.

Speaking to the clubs’ website, Kamara expressed his delight after his impressive spell with Vendsyssel.

“I look forward to getting started in Randers FC I have been in Denmark for some months, and got an insight into the level in the Super League, which makes me know how the different clubs play,” the former Allsvenskan winner to club’s website.

“I see myself fit well into Randers FC’s playing style. It’s a step up for me, and I’m looking forward to pulling the beautiful light blue shirt over my head.”

“We have just learned that Alhaji is something of a mouthful to play against. He is a fast-paced, hard-working and body-powerful attacker who also knows where the target stands.”

“We saw this at Cepheus Park Randers, where he spiced a good effort with a nice main goal. He is an attacker we do not have in the squad already, so we are incredibly happy that we have managed to get him to Randers,” sporting and commercial director Søren Pedersen.

Since leaving FC Kallon in 2012, Kamara has had spells withDjurgården IF, IFK Norrköping, DC United, Al-Taawoun, FC Sheriff Tiraspol and Vendsyssel FF.
