Harambee Stars target Sesay set for Sierra Leone debut

Barnet FC defender David Sesay, who has been on Kenya wish list in the last two years set to make his Sierra Leone debut in Morocco.

Sesay, 23, could make his debut if selected against South Sudan on Wednesday the 6th as part of three friendlies line up in Morocco.

Sierra Leone gearing up ahead of the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon will rehearse against South Sudan, the Gambia 9th and Morocco on 12th October.

The Barnet defender, who is qualified to play for the West African nation through his dad, is part of 19-foreign based named by coach John Keister for training camp in Casablanca.

Born in Brent London, he came through the Watford FC academy before penning a permanent deal with League Two side Crawley Town in 2018.

Two years ago, several reports claimed he was in line to represent Kenya during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, but the plan failed to work out. 

He has been a pivotal player since joining the National League side, Barnet.

Meanwhile, fourteen players completed their first training with seven seven-foreign based at the Royal Golf Center. 

Home-based players 

Mahmoud Fofana, Ibrahim Sesay, Yeami Dunia, Mohamed N. Kamara, Saidu Fofana, Abubakarr Samura and Saidu Mansaray;

Seven foreign-based players 

Alusine Koroma, Alhassan Koroma, Sulaiman Kaikai, Kwame Quee, Osman Kakay, Augustus Kargbo Crotone, and (David Sesay Barnet FC England). 

Seven more players are expected to join the training camp today. East End Lions Abdul Razak Conteh will replace injured Kelvin Wright.

Örebro SK defender Kevin Wright will miss Sierra Leone friendly matches against South Sudan, the Gambia and Morocco on the 6th, 9th and 12th October, respectively, in Casablanca Morroco.

The former Chelsea youth defender was forced off in the fifth minute in Orebro SK 2-1 defeats on Sunday to Häcken after he suffered a hamstring at their Behrn Arena stadium.

Wright, 25, who was making his sixteen Allsvenskan appearances of the season, told this medium he was disappointed due to his injury.

“I’m disappointed after I pulled my hamstring today in the game, and I have to come off after five minutes, so I will not be available for upcoming friendlies,” Wright told FSL UK.

The former Fredrikstad FK is the fourth player named in the 19-foreign-based list that will not be making the trip to the North African state of Morocco.

The West African nation played 0-0 in their last outing against Ethiopia at the Bahir Dar International Stadium on 26th August.

Sierra Leone will use matches as preparation ahead of the TotalEnergies 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year.

Meanwhile, the Sierra Leone delegation has safely arrived in the Moroccan port city named El Jadida, where they checked in at the Ibis Hotel.

However, the former Zürich centre back has told ths medium that he is recovering from a muscle strain and a broken finger he sustained in their 3-1 win over Stade Lausanne-Ouchy last week.

Meanwhile, the skipper is not the only player that will be out of matches in Morocco. Genoa attacker Yayah Kallon and Panetolikos winger Jonathan Morsay will not be in the North Africa state of Morocco.

The West African nation played 0-0 in their last outing against Ethiopia at the Bahir Dar International Stadium on 26th August.

Yayah Kallon, Jonathan Morsay doubtful for Sierra Leone friendlies

Serie A side Genoa attacker Yayah Kallon and Panetolikos winger Jonathan Morsay are doubtful for Sierra Leone friendlies against South Sudan, Gambia and Morocco this month.

Both players were named for the first time in coach John Keister squad for upcoming preparations matches slated to be played on 6th, 9th and 12th October, respectively, in Casablanca Morroco.

However, both players are unsure about making the trip, but they did not state any reasons for their possible unavailability for this month games. 

Meanwhile, three more new faces were named in the 19 foreign-based called up by coach Keister.

Ex England International Steven Caulker, trading with Turkish side  Gaziantep F.KSC Cambuur winger Issa Kallon and English National League side Barnet F.C. defender David Sesay are part of the new inclusions.

Among the three, David Sesay has confirmed his availability to this medium.

The West African nation, last outing was against Ethiopia, the Leone Stars dominated by local stars played to a barren draw at the Bahir Dar International Stadium on August 26.

The Gambia and Morocco will also use matches as preparation ahead of the TotalEnergies 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year.

Recap: Alhaji Kamara scores in Randers Europa Conference League draw

Sierra Leone striker Alhaji Kamara scored Randers opener in their 1-1 draw away to CFR Cluj in their second Europa Conference Group D stage tie at the Constantin Rădulescu Stadium on Thursday.

Kamara, 27, goal came in the 41st minutes assisted by Hammershøj-Mistrati. The striker could have doubled his tally in the 55th minute before he was replaced in the 63rd. 

The Romanian rallied to draw parity in the 68th minute through midfielder Claudiu Petrila.

The result means Randers sitting third on two points after their opening two draws in the group.

Elsewhere in the group, Dutch side AZ Alkmaar defeated Czech side FK Jablonec 1-0 at the AZ Stadium in Alkmaar to go top after their opening 2-2 draw against Randers in the opening tie.

Randers next outing in the competition is a doubleheader against Jablonec on October 21 at the Stadion Střelnice and 4th November at home, respectively.
