Asamoah Gyan scored the only goal of the game as a 1-0 win for Ghana over Mali sent his side through to the knockout stages with a game to spare.
Gyan, 31, became Ghana’s all-time top scorer in the competition with eight goals, overtaking Osei Kofi. He has also now scored in six consecutive finals.
Ghana dominated from the first whistle, with Jordan and Andre Ayew, Christian Atsu and Gyan proving too fast and inventive in attack for Mali to ever rest easy.
Mali’s Moussa Marega missed several good chances with a header.
In the second half, Mali made changes and instantly put more pressure on their opponents, with a series of corners and attacks down the right wing that had Ghana on the back foot.
Brimah Razak pulled off a reflex save at the death from Khalifa Coulibaly, as Ghana scraped a victory.

Moroccan top flight side FUS Rabat, are already preparing for their upcoming Total CAF Champions League tie against Sierra Leone FA Cup Champions FC Johansen next month.
FUS will play a friendly match against their Algerian counterpart CR Belouizdad on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at 15:00 as part of their preparation for the return phase of Botola Maroc Telecom and the preliminary round of the African Champions League.
This test match is slated for the Fath Union Sports Academy and will be on camera, Football Sierra Leone understands.
Sierra Leone 2016 FA Cup Champions, FC Johansen, will face the Moroccans in the 2017 doubleheader in CAF Champions League preliminary round.
The club owned by the President of Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Isha Johansen will host the first leg on the 11th February 2017 and the return tie the following week.
The preliminary round will feature a total of 46 teams and if Johansen’s side eliminates the Moroccans, they will play either side – the Ghanaian champions Wa All Stars or the Libyan outfit Al Ahly Tripoli in March.
FC Johansen was eliminated from the 2013 CAF Confederation Cup by Barrack YC II following a 1-0 aggregate defeat.
Meanwhile, CAF Champions League holders, Mamelodi Sundowns, will start their defense of their title against the winner of the matchup between KCCA Club (Uganda) and D.1e Agosto (Angola).

Senegal sailed into the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe.
Goals from Liverpool forward Sadio Mané and Henri Saivet ensured the 2002 finalists progressed from Group B with their final match against Algeria to spare, but the margin of victory should have been much larger.
“The goal today was to qualify, now it’s done,” said the head coach, Aliou Cissé, after early goals settled the game. “In the first game, even when we played badly, we got to win. Today, we played well and won, and we qualified. I’m very proud of the guys, we have to keep going like that.”
Meanwhile, An Aïssa Mandi own goal and a Naïm Sliti penalty gave Tunisia a deserved victory in this North African derby, leaving Algeria on the verge of an early exit from the tournament.

Austrian second-tier side Floridsorfer AC have unveiled their new signing George Davis, from German side Greuther Fürth.
The Sierra Leone international is expected to stay with the Viennese district-base club until summer 2017, Football Sierra Leone understands.

Crystal Palace youngster Sullay Kaikai admitted he was ‘happy’ to make his first start and a full debut for the club on Tuesday in their FA Cup third-round replay against Bolton.
Kaikai who returned to Crystal Palace after he was recalled from his loan deal was named in Sam Allardyce’s 2-1 winning side.
The youngster making his first Palace start curled free-kick inches wide of the far post in the best chance of the opening 45 minutes.
The 21-year-old after the match he tweeted: “Happy to make my full debut today. Good result! Thanks to everyone for the support. Fans carried us through.”
Bolton had taken the lead at the start of the second half through James Henry but Christian Benteke came to the rescue the Belgian scored twice to give Sam Allardyce’s his first win as Palace manager.
Palace will host Manchester City in round four on 28 January at 16:00 GMT.
