Kallon’s GM warns players against complacency

Kallon’s GM warns players against complacency

In their quest to reach the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, FC Kallon General Manager Tunde Scott has warned players against complacency ahead of the second leg preliminary on Saturday in Liberia.

Kallon with the first leg advantage after an impressive away 1-0 win over Les Buffles du Burgos at the General Mathieu Kérékou Friendship Stadium in Cotonou, Benin, on Friday.

“We won the first leg 1-0, but we know Les Buffles de Borgou are coming here like Lions. So we have to be mindful of the threat they will pose against us,” Tunde Scott warned.

“They also have a young team, though they’re relatively more experienced players. You could see how that individual quality made the difference against us despite winning away.

“We’ve got to be focused, try to avoid complacency. On paper, perhaps, we look better than them, but Buffles have a lot of talented individuals – though fortunately for us, they lost their home tie against us.”

He, however, called on Sierra Leoneans to rally behind the team. We are in this competition to represent Sierra Leone because when we won, Sierra Leoneans were happy, so let them support these players and the management,” he appealed.

Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Liberia to host the return fixtures on the 17th. The aggregate winner will face the winner between Uganda’s BUL FC and Future FC of Egypt in the next stage.

Rangers skipper Bah optimistic ahead of Belouizbad’s decider

A win for Sierra Leone champions Bo Rangers at the Stade du 8-Mai-1945 in Algeria on Saturday, will see them progress to the next stage of this year’s CAF Champions League.

Ranger’s skipper Saidu Bah has expressed optimism as they prepare for their decider against the Algerian champions CR Belouizbad this weekend.

They were held to a goalless in the first leg in Monrovia on Saturday. However, the midfielder remains positive about a Rangers victory in Saturday’s clash.

“We’ve done a great job in Liberia playing to a goalless with one of Algeria’s best clubs and a top African side ‘s top giants,” he told footballsierraleone.net.

“We are debutants in this competition, but we are determined to do our homework right on Saturday despite playing away from home”.

When asked whether CR Belouizbad’s home tie will give them the advantage – Bah replied, “Football is no longer about playing at home despite their fans will serve as the twelfth player in crunch tie,” he added, “We are not here for child’s play, I am sure, we can get what we want despite the match will be tough.”

He continued: “As a group, we must give a 100% commitment from the start of the match to the final whistle. We are not here to represent Bo Rangers alone but Sierra Leone as a nation.

So, soccer fans must remember us in their prayers. The nation must get behind us. Hopefully, we’ll surely make them proud to take the team to the next round of qualifiers.”

Mustapha Bundu makes Andorra debut away to Mirandés

Cruel blow. FC Andorra‘s last-gasp goal in the extra time left Mirandés without their first win of the season.

On loan from Anderletch to the Spanish second-tier side Andorra, winger Mustapha Bundu made his  LA Liga 2 debut in a 1-1 draw away to Anduva Municipal Stadium on Sunday.

The home side took the lead through Raúl García de Haro in the 26-minute before Sinan Bakis drew parity late on in the match as they secured a vital point away from home.

Bundu, 25, who experienced Spanish second-tier football, was introduced in the 77th minute replacing Adrià Altimira Reynaldosas.

The draw means they sit 14th on the log after two wins, a draw and two defeats in their last five matches.

Bundu will be hoping to make his first start for his new side in their next league game against Eibar on Saturday at home, in a bid to revive his professional career.

Bo Rangers share CAF CL spoils with CR Belouizdad

Bo Rangers and CR Belouizdad began their CAF Champions League campaign with a share of the spoils following a goalless draw in the Liberian Capital.

The Sierra Leone Champions put up a good fight as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Algerian Champions CR Belouizdad in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round clash at the SKD Stadium in Liberia on Saturday.

The West African side gave a good account of themselves as they made their debut in the competition against a tough North African competitor.

Despite missing two key players, the likes of Amadu Mansaray and Abu Bakarr Samura, the host came close to scoring when Suffian Kalokoh hit the target but was denied by the post.

The result was a respectable scoreline against a team that was in the quarter-final in the last competition.

The goalless draw will boost Ranger’s confidence ahead of the return leg on Saturday, 17th September, at the Stade du 8-Mai-1945, Setif, Algeria.

The aggregate winner of CR Belouizdad and Rangers over two legs will face the winner between Deportivo Mongomo Equatorial Guinean football club and Djoliba Athletic Club Malian football in the second round in October.

Meanwhile, Bo Rangers have confirmed that they arrived safely in Bo from Monrovia, Liberia, on Sunday. The team will depart for Conakry, Guinea, en route to Algeria ahead of the reverse fixture.

The Algerians also arrived at 3:40 on Sunday in Algiers from Liberia after playing the CAF Champions League first preliminary round match against Sierra Leonean Bo Rangers.
