Demba Kamara nets first goal for Victor SM

Demba Kamara nets first goal for Victor SM

Sierra Leone International Demba Kamara recorded his first league goal for Italian fifth-tier side Victor San Marino in a 3-0 win over USD Classe on Sunday.

Thanks to a brace from captain Ambrosini in the 15 and 23 minutes, respectively. Demba Kamara added their third in the 45th minute, his first of the season.

The win means they strengthen their grip on the Girone B staining after an emphatic victory at the Eccellenza Emilia stadium.

Kamara’s goal came just before the break in the 45-th minute. Playing in midfield, Kamara received a through ball that he converted with a chip for his first goal.

Cassani’s men rise to 34 points and remain, once again, in the lead of group B with a considerable advantage over the pursuing teams (+6 points over Sanpaimola and Savignanese as well as +7 points over Russi).

Their next outing is against Sant’Agostino on Sunday, 13th November, at 14.30 local time.

Bo Rangers, SLFA, MOS, NSA, others mourn Eric Lansana

Tributes were paid on Saturday to former Sierra Leone National Team Manager, Administrator, and football enthusiast, Eric Lansana, who died after a gruesome road accident.

Sierra Leone lost a great sportsman, an enthusiastic individual and a citizen. He gave his country his all.

Reigning Sierra Leone champions Bo Rangers chairman Babadi Kamara was the first to break the news to some members of the football family just before midday on Saturday. “Sad to inform you all that we have lost Eric Lansana (TD-Bo Rangers) through a road accident.”

  • Bo Rangers Football Club

Eric was a committed and passionate contributor to football in Sierra Leone. One of the few Sierra Leoneans to sacrifice opportunities in Europe to give back to his Nation (Sierra Leone). His love and unique sense of accommodating friends around the game will be recognized. We have lost an influential character within the football family.

  • The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA)

Before his demise, Eric served as the Technical Director of Bo Rangers Football Club. He will be remembered for his Ineradicable contribution to the growth of Sierra Leone football.

  • Ministry of Sports / The National Sports Authority – (MOS & NSA)

Former Sierra Leone, National Senior Male team, Leone Stars, will be missed and always remembered for his calm, calculated disposition among football administrators, players and fans.

His contribution to football development across the country at all levels was remarkable.

  • Eastern Region Football Assocaiution (ERFA)

As humble as he is, Eric Lansana has always been around Bo Rangers in ensuring that they achieve whatever assignment they had in their hands. His love for sports, especially football, was unimaginable.

  • Former TM Leone Stars and Brookfields United Chairman Christian Duada

While we love the late Eric Lansana dearly, whoever God takes away or gives away belongs to him. Everything has a final term in this world, so I urge family, football lovers and friends to be patient and strong.

  • Football Administrator and Chairman Mighty Blackpool Rodney Michael

Eric was a genuine football person, not one for fame or glory, but his satisfaction was helping talented players develop and seeing good quality football played. A humble, respectful, genuine and peaceful man.

ERIC was a friend to all in football – and we at Blackpool will forever remember his role and contribution to our club over the years.

Football has lost a super guy. May His Soul Rest in perfect peace.

Arsenal discovery Kamara not ruling out Sierra Leone jersey

Arsenal discovery Kamara not ruling out Sierra Leone jersey

16-year Arsenal prodigy Osman Kamara has expressed his desire to represent Sierra Leone soon but admitted if England comes calling, it will be difficult to turn down.

The young striker, who was speaking to the Arsenal website – said, “I’ve definitely got ambitions to play international football one day, but I’m still a bit torn over which nation I would choose.”

“My parents are from Sierra Leonne, and I think playing for them would make my family and parents really proud, but if England comes calling it will be tough to turn that down! Right now all I’m really focusing on is becoming a reliable team-mate, being consistent and showing my qualities. Those are my only real goals for the rest of the season.”

  • How it all started for the Sierra Leone native

“I started playing for my first-ever Sunday league team when I was eight years old. It was called Senrab FC in east London, which is where a few famous players have started off down the years. It was a real eye-opener for me that if I really want it and if I work hard and sharpen my technique, then I could make a career and a journey out of football.”

“I played with Senrab for two seasons and then I had a trial at Crystal Palace – that was for seven weeks and was my first time going to an academy environment. It was all new to me, the intensity, the level and it was seriously different from what I was used to, so it took a while for me to adjust on the trial. I thought I played well, but it just wasn’t to be there. Funny story, but I actually met Noah Cooper [fellow first-year scholar] while I was there.”

  • “It was such a good feeling when Arsenal signed me, especially because it’s my boyhood club.”

About three weeks after I didn’t get signed by Palace, I got offered a trial at Arsenal at under-10 level. Obviously I was over the moon, but also a bit nervous because it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I had to stay focused and just take the opportunity. The trial started really well – they put me into matches after the first week because I was playing so well and scoring a lot of goals, then they extended my trial for six weeks and then signed me off the back it. Just like meeting Noah when I was at Palace, I came up against Karmani Ryan [also a first-year scholar] on my Arsenal trial, when he was at Chelsea.

It was such a good feeling when Arsenal signed me, especially because it’s my boyhood club. My family were extremely proud of me and it gave me a real confidence boost, and after that I was playing really well because I knew that I was good enough to play for a club academy in London.
