Faouzi Benzarti has been sacked as coach of Tunisia just four days after he helped the Carthage Eagles qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations.
Tunisia’s next qualifier is away to Egypt in November.
Impressively, the 68-year-old guided Tunisia to a 2-1 victory over Niger in Niamey on Tuesday to seal the country’s place at next year’s Nations Cup in Cameroon with two qualifiers still to play.
“The board decided on Saturday to end the relationship between the Federation and the head coach of the national senior team, Faouzi Benzarti,” TFF said in a statement.
The former Wydad Casablanca boss returned to coach his national team, replacing Nabil Maaloul who left the post after Tunisia’s early exit from the Russia World Cup.

FIFA has confirmed that Sierra Leone will remain suspended until the alleged corruption trial against Isha Johansen and Chris Kamara concludes.
Following Wednesday’s talks, FIFA and the Sierra Leone Government discussed the situation surrounding the country’s football body.
In the communiqué released, Fifa maintained that the discussions were cordial in paving the way forward after the country’s suspension. FIFA suspends Sierra Leone soccer Association
“FIFA will wait for the completion of the trial before further measures can be considered, including the lifting of the suspension by the Bureau of the FIFA Council, if deemed appropriate,” Fifa said after talks with top government officials.
The investigation into the alleged match-fixing also took centre stage following confirmation that a delegation will visit Sierra Leone in early November to look into the matter.
“FIFA, CAF and the SLFA, and to ensure all the necessary support for the deployment of the Sierra Leone Inquiry Group to conduct the match-fixing investigation from 4 to 9 November 2018.”

World’s football governing body FIFA, and the Sierra Leone government are to redesign and release a new joint roadmap in a bid to resolve the ongoing impasse surrounding the country’s football.
Following a productive meeting in Zurich on Wednesday between Fifa and a high-powered Sierra Leone delegation led by the Vice President, a communiqué on the way forward is expected to be out today.
A source who attended the meeting in Zurich has confirmed to FootballSierraLeone.net that the expected communiqué will be the only legal document in resolving the football impasse in the country.
It’s still unclear whether the SLFA boss Isha Johnsen and Sec-gen Chris Kamara will be reinstated as stipulated by Fifa.
“The suspension will be lifted once the SLFA and its recognised leadership have confirmed to Fifa that the SLFA administration, premises, accounts and communication channels are under their control once again,” Fifa reiterated.
Fifa suspended Sierra Leone from international football two weeks ago because of alleged government interference in the running of the country’s football association.
Confederation of African Football (CAF) cancelled Sierra Leone 2019 Africa Cup of Nations doubleheader against Ghana due to the FIFA ban on the West African nation.
However, CAF did not state whether Ghana would be awarded a win for the suspended Kumasi qualifier that was slated for October 11 or if Sierra Leone will be allowed to continue in the qualifiers when they are reinstated by FIFA.

Kei Kamara’s professional soccer career has been a bit nomadic, but he’s proven one constant in eight different jerseys in his MLS career: He scores goals.
Kamara has taken soccer’s most valuable trait with him to Vancouver, where he’s had a successful first season with the Whitecaps.
He leads the team with 14 goals and couldn’t be happier with his situation.
“I’m at the end of my contract here in Vancouver, but it’s one of the best teams I’ve played for, one of the best cities I’ve lived in,” Kamara told MLSsoccer.com.
“It’s difficult right now that we don’t have a permanent coach to know what the situation is for me going forward. For me, I feel like I’ve done my due here. I’m not looking to that. Obviously whatever happens will happen, I love it here.”
What Kamara is looking forward to is the task at hand, and the Whitecaps still have it all to play for this season. Despite losing three of their last four games, the Whitecaps are within touching distance of the Western Conference final playoff spot with just a few games left.
“I believe we can do it,” Kamara said without hesitation. “The game against Kansas City is obviously our final. It doesn’t matter what happens to the other side of the table. …If we can handle that game, it doesn’t matter what the other results are, then we’ll be really happy going into our last two games of the season.”
Self-belief in the locker room hasn’t wavered all season through the ups and downs that included a coaching change just two games prior, as the ‘Caps parted ways with Carl Robinson and appointed Academy technical director Craig Dalrymple in charge for the rest of the season.
“It’s been like that for us for the past 10 games, being really close to the line,” Kamara said. “It’s always felt like we could be right above that line, even after the coaching change and the results, it’s like ‘wow, we’re right there. We can make this happen.’ … After the Galaxy loss, the belief was still there. It was one of those that we just dropped. The way all of the other results were still going, was one of those to tell you ‘hey, there’s still a chance we can make it happen.'”
After SKC, the schedule doesn’t get any easier. They play at LAFC on Sunday (5 pm ET | TSN — Full TV & Streaming info) and then host Portland on Decision Day, presented by AT&T, two teams bound for the playoffs. They have an uphill battle that they’re not going to back down from as Kamara is embracing a role that includes not just helping his teammates on the field, but off of it as well.
“It’s a really competitive group. It’s a young team, being the oldest guy in the locker room, which is a shame to say, I do feel proud of that,” the 34-year-old said. “I come in every day and continue to help the players, help everybody achieve something, and right now that’s the playoffs. That’s what we want to achieve.”
Despite being the oldest on the team, Kamara has played the fourth-most minutes. The way he plays, and moves, it’s easy to assume he’s still in his 20’s.
“It’s kind of weird knowing that I’m over 100 goals, but I really didn’t score many goals before,” Kamara said while laughing. “I’m 34, I’m playing, the way I’m moving around and seeing the game a lot better than before, and appreciating every single player on the squad. Every single player connects something to make me score goals.”
Despite having scored 112 goals in his MLS career, and being tied for seventh in goals this season, Kamara still rues the ones he didn’t score.
“I feel ashamed to not be scoring more, I should be in the 20s at the moment,” Kamara lamented. “I missed a couple key chances, and maybe those are a couple key chances that hurt us. But goals really aren’t my drive, my drive is the playoffs and championships.”
Regardless of what happens over the team’s final three regular season games, Kamara hopes to be back in Vancouver.
“Team-wise, this is seriously one of the best group of guys, togetherness, that I’ve seen,” Kamara said. “When Robbo was here, the guys that he put together, he did it well. A lot of guys really like each other off the field. When you do have that, it really brings a different chemistry when you’re on the field. The city is a beautiful city and it puts this happiness into players, all of that does help.”

Madagascar have qualified to next year’s Africa Cup of Nations for the first time ever following 18th failed attempts since 1970.
They beat Equatorial Guinea 1-0 in Antananarivo on Tuesday to become the first team to join hosts Cameroon in next year’s finals.
Thailand-based midfielder Njiva Rakotoharimalala scored the only goal four minutes before half-time.
The victory takes the Barea up to 10 points in Group A after four matches, taking them out of reach of Equatorial Guinea (three points) or pointless Sudan.
The Falcons of Jediane will be eliminated on Tuesday unless they defeat Senegal (seven points) in Khartoum.
The Islanders have enjoyed an upturn of fortunes following the appointment of French coach Nicolas Dupuis, although they remain down in 106th in the FIFA World Rankings.
Madagascar defeated Sudan 3-1 away in their first qualifier before holding Senegal 2-2 at home in September, a match overshadowed by the death of a supporter following a stadium stampede at the Stade Municipal de Mahamasina.
They followed that up with a 1-0 away victory in Bata on Saturday, and can now look forward to taking their place among the continent’s heavyweights in Cameroon.
Madagascar have failed to qualify for the AFCON on 18 occasions and withdrew from qualifying three times since their first qualification attempt ahead of the 1972 finals.

Kenya recorded a 3-0 home win over Ethiopia in Sunday’s qualifying Africa Cup of Nations match played at Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani Stadium.
The Harambee Stars kept their Cameroon 2019 hopes alive with goals from Michael Olunga, Eric Omondi and skipper Victor Wanyama.
Michael Olunga opened the scoring for Kenyan in the 23rd minute and Eric Omondi doubles the host lead after 3 minutes.
Skipper and Tottenham midfielder, Victor Wanyama completed the big victory from the spot in the 67th minute.
The Walias failed to capitalise last Wednesday at home, as they struggled to break down the Kenyan defence and consequently, they had to shoot from long range with very little effect.
In the same group, Ghana and Sierra Leone have three points from their opening two Nations Cup qualifiers.
However, Sierra Leone doubleheader against the Black Stars was called off due to an International suspension on Sierra Leone.
Confederation of African Football (CAF) has yet to comment on whether Ghana will be awarded the points or disqualify Sierra Leone completely, which may leave Ethiopia with only a point.
