Sierra Leone’s Mohamed James ‘Pele’ Sesay has admitted he was happy to be named the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Junior College III Men’s National Player of the Year.
The former FC Johansen player has also named the league most valuable player for 2018.
The striker registered 28 goals to help his Thunderducks to the school’s 7th NJCAA National Championship.
Sesay’s achievements have prompted him for more he told Football Sierra Leone about his determination to claim more heights.
“I am pleased because of the Award has helped me gained experience, met with many top-class players, coaches around the United States,” Sesay told FSL.
“It’s great for my career, my lovely family back in Sierra Leone and thanks to my loving supporting wife and son.”
“It has widened my determination to let me focus in achieving many more in the future.”
“I believe that I can do more. I was very pleased because of this recognition will only help my career in so many ways.”
Sesay added, “This is going to connect me with a lot of sports experts to help me become Successful.”
The 23-year-old became the 3rd Richland College player to win the award in school history.
The other two were Jesus “Chuy” Rodriguez 2002 and Mikkel Rohde 2016.
James also became the Richland College all-time career goal scorer with a school record 55 goals.

Mauritania coach Corentin Martins has signed a new two-year contract extension which will see him remain as head coach until 2021.
The 49-year new deal comes after leading the country to the Africa Cup of Nations finals for the first time in history, a few months ago.
Mauritania, a country in northwest Africa covered almost completely by the Sahara desert, came from behind to beat Botswana 2-1 with two goals from Ismael Diakite, as they book their 2019 AFCON ticket.
The Al-Murabitun under the French man was named as the National Team of the Year at the recent Confederation of African Football awards.
A draw for Mauritania in their final Nations Cup qualifier away to Burkina Faso in March will see them finish top of Group I.
Angola and Botswana are the other two teams in the group.

Swedish Allsvenskan side Djurgården new acquisition Buya Turay has stressed that his bad experience at Sint-Truidense has prompted him not to ever play in Belgium.
Turay, 24, who joined Belgian side Sint-Truidense for a record fee of 1.7 million Euros on a three-year contract from Dalkurd in August 2018, completed a loan move for the 2019 season on Thursday.
“Based on what I have experienced at Sint-Truidense for the five months I have decided not to play again in Belgium,” Turay told BBC Sport.
Turay, who made only six appearances for the Sint-Truidense and scored his only goal on his debut repeatedly stressed his intention of never to play in Belgium.
He scored his only goal for the club on his debut a 1-1 home draw against Lokeren back in August 2018.
“I feel disappointed because things didn’t go the way I was expecting for reasons I can’t talk about.”
“But let me repeat I’ll never again play in Belgium.”
The striker added, “Things changed after I scored my first goal for the club on my debut. Since then it was either I was on the bench or not on the list for matches.”
The Sierra Leone international scored 9 goals in 13 appearances for the Swedish side before his move.
During the 2016 season in the Swedish Superettan, Turay accounted for ten goals to help AFC Eskilstuna promoted to Allsvenskan.

Leicester’s Malian midfielder joins Turkish Sivasspor
Malian international and Leicester forward Fousseni Diabate has joined Turkish side Sivasspor on loan until the end of the season.
On 13 January 2018, Diabaté moved to Leicester City for an undisclosed fee from French Ligue 2 side Gazelec Ajaccio.
The Midfielder made his debut for Leicester City in the FA Cup fourth round match against Peterborough United and scored twice in a 5–1 win.
The 23-year-old in total has made 19 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring two goals on his debut in the fourth round of the FA Cup last season, when Leicester beat Peterborough 5-1.
Sivasspor finished seventh in the Turkish Super Lig in 2018.

Swedish Allsvenskan side Djurgården have today signed Mohamed Buya Turay on loan for the 2019 season.
Turay, 24, joined Belgian side Sint-Truidense for a record fee of 1.7 million Euros on a three-year from Dalkurd but has not been able to replicate his form in Sweden.
The Sierra Leone international scored 9 goals in 13 appearances for the Swedish side before his move.
Turay made six appearances with his only goal for the club was on his debut in their 1-1 home draw against Lokeren in the Jupiler league back in August 2018 in six appearances.
During the 2016 season in the Swedish Superettan, Turay accounted for ten goals to help AFC Eskilstuna promoted to Allsvenskan.
The striker told club’s website: “I am so happy to play for Djurgården. I have been in contact with DIF earlier and it is a club that I have always wanted to play for.”
“So for me, it feels like coming home and it also becomes a new start to my career.”
“I do not know so many in the team now, but I know many who have played for Djurgården. For example, Omar Colley or Sam Johnson who is striker just like me. But I’m probably a little faster than him, haha.”

Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah on Tuesday at a colourful ceremony held in Dakar, Senegal, won the 2018 CAF Player of the Year award.
Salah, 26, beat Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane of Senegal and Arsenal and Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the title.
He received the award at a ceremony in Senegal on Tuesday.
With the Liverpool striker keeping the award in 2018, he has joined the list of the few players who won two awards in a row such as El-Hadji Diouf from Senegal (2001, 2002), Samuel Eto’o from Cameroon (2003, 2004) and Yaya Toure from Ivory Coast (2011, 2012)
“I have dreamt of winning this award since I was a child and now I have done so twice in a row, ” Salah said.
The former Napoli striker scored 44 goals for Liverpool during the 2017-18 season, helping the Reds to the Champions League final before scoring twice for Egypt at the World Cup in Russia.
He has scored 16 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool this season.
