Mustapha Bundu set for AGF Aarhus return

Mustapha Bundu set for AGF Aarhus return

R.S.C. Anderlecht and Sierra Leone attacker Mustapha Bundu is set for a return to AGF Aarhus in the Danish Superliga.

Football Sierra Leone understands that the 24-year-old will be joining his former club with only a few formalities that need to fall into place.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Anderlecht and Danish club, Aarhus is in negotiations for a one-year loan.

A return to AGF might revitalise his career after a tough time in Belgium.

Before his big-money move to the Belgian Jupiler pro-side Anderlecht, the former Hereford attacker scored a total of 21 goals in 109 appearances for the Danish club (AGF Aarhus) between 2016 to 2020.

In August 2020, Anderlecht announced the signing of Sierra Leonean international on a four-year deal. But things did not go as planned under Vincent Kompany, who may have lost faith in the club’s big-money signing.

Bundu last season played with Copenhagen on loan for the rest of the season with an option to buy. However, after his loan spell, he returns for a fresh start.

In this campaign, Bundu has only made two appearances for the Belgian club.

Sierra Leone striker Augustine Williams happy with brace

Sierra Leone striker Augustine Williams happy with brace

Sierra Leone striker Augustine Williams has expressed his delight at scoring a brace on his first start for his new club.

Williams, 24, opened his San Diego Loyal account in their 3-1 triumph over the Sacramento Republic at Heart Health Park on Saturday.

As a result, they ended Republic seven-game undefeated streak. Landon Donovan’s side started brightly as they took the lead in the third minute with Oliver Larraz’s first goal for the club.

The visitors doubled its lead in the 23rd minute as Williams opened his account in his first start since arriving on loan from the LA Galaxy. The Sierra Leone international collected a clever flicked pass by Corey Hertzog before placed his shot in the left corner of the net.

Six minutes later Williams added a second as he got onto the end of a corner kick by Charlie Adams from the right and headed into the right corner.

Williams almost got a hat trick for the visitors eight minutes into the second half as Elijah Martin created space in the left side of the penalty area for a low cross that found the forward, whose first shot was blocked by Jordan McCrary before a second that hit the top of Gomez’s head and came back off the crossbar before the hosts cleared to safety.

“Feels great. It’s a great way for me to start and be in a good rhythm. I am happy for the win and goals,” a delighted Williams told FSL News.

“My job is to score goals, and I love to do it whenever I got the opportunity to do it.”

Just a few days ago, he joined the club from LA Galaxy on loan for the rest of the season.

Creative Sorba Thomas nets as Huddersfield ease past Reading

Inform Sierra Leone native Sorba Thomas scored a solo goal as Huddersfield Town thrashed Reading 4-0 on Saturday.

Thomas, 22, scored Towns’ third in the 66th in the English Championship win as Reading’s troubled start to the season continued.

The winger whipped in a cross for Lewis O’Brien to sidefoot the Terriers ahead. He then sent an inswinging free-kick into the box for Matty Pearson to poke home the second.

Thomas capped a fine display with a solo run and low shot across Royals goalkeeper Rafael Cabral which found the bottom corner.
