Premier News: Tigers thrash Blackpool 3-0 to go top

Female tactician lady Victoria Conteh guided East End Tigers to another superb display as they thrashed Mighty Blackpool 3-0 on Wednesday evening at the Siaka Steven Stadium.

As each match goes by, Conteh’s men look increasingly capable of making a serious challenge for this season’s title.

Momoh Yillah, Saidu Sesay and Phillip Neille accounted for Tigers goals as they eased past the Tis tas boys.

Since taking over, Sierra Leone’s top-flight female coach Victoria Conteh has transformed the Tigers into a title contender winning five of her last nine matches in the dugout.

Wednesday’s victory was her third straight in the ongoing Sierra Leone Premier League defeating Ports, Kamboi Eagles and Mighty Blackpool respectively.

“It means a lot to me,” Conteh hurriedly told FSL News.

Elsewhere, Anti-Drugs and Bo Rangers played to a barren draw on at the Approved School mini stadium.

As a result, Bo are second on the log two points adrift of End End Tigers.

Defender Koroma excited about Johansen future

FC Johansen defender Raphael Koroma, who has been excellent this campaign says his club future is bright and that he is excited about the challenges in the ongoing Premier League Season.
 
Koroma, 19, has so far scored one goal in the Sierra Leone 2019 and 2020 Premier season in ten appearances.
 
Head coach Abdulai Bah, who has reiterated several times that the club is on a rebuilding process, is hoping Koroma can continue his progression.
 
“It feels good playing regularly in the Premier League for FC Johansen. I’m excited to be part of the team with a bright future ahead,” Koroma told FSL News.
 
“The league has been competitive, physically and mentally. I’m still working on developing myself. The club is on a rebuilding process with lots of young players chasing their dreams. It is a big motivation to do more work and help the team. I hope we can achieve great things together.”
 
“I have shown the coach in training I am ready, and I’ll continue to work harder. I am happy with my contribution to the team. It is good to play very well for the team.”
 
The 6ft four-inch defender has played every single game for the Dream Chasers this season.
 
FC Johansen host Ports Authority on Thursday another cracking game Koroma will have to be at his best to help his side.

Hassan Milla Koroma brace helps Kallon ease past Parade 

Two goals from Hassan Milla Koroma and a goal apiece from new acquisition Baimba Sesay and Sallieu Tarawallie earned the Cavaliers the biggest of the season win on Saturday at the Siaka Steven Stadium.

Koroma’s opening two first-half goals help FC Kallon to cut the gap on league leaders Kamboi Eagles to two points as they marched on to record a 4-0 heavy defeat over Central Parade.

Head coach Amidu Karim will be pleased with the season biggest win so far.

A second win this month for the Cavaliers while it is the worst start for Central Parade side who are without a win after nine matches played in the ongoing Sierra Leone Premier League.

As a result, Parade FC are first from bottom sitting pretty at the bottom with four defeat and five draws.

Former East End Tigers striker Baimba Sesay scored his first of the season in the 44th minute before Sallieu Tarawallie wrapped up the win with a top-class header in the 94th minutes.

Meanwhile, reigning champions East End Lions will host FC Johansen later this evening in another mouthwatering encounter.

FC Johansen going into today’s contest will be full of confidence after ending Kamboi Eagles unbeaten run on Wednesday.

Lions, on the other hand, was losing by a goal in Kenema against Kamboi Eagles before the match was abandoned.

East End Tigers proved once more that they are ready to compete with all the big guns in the Sierra Leone Premier League after another hard fourth 1-0 win against one of the greatest clubs in the country.

A Maurice Kamara goal proves to be the winner on Friday as coach Victoria Conteh side move up to third on the log with 14 points level with FC Kallon five adrift of league leaders Kamboi Eagles.

“It’s good for us. It gives the boys more belief as we’re ready to visit Kamboi Eagles with the same mentality. We want to continue to do what we have been doing. That’s winning matches,” Tigers chief Victor Lewis to FSL News.

The result means Tigers continue to strive. Its was their third victory under the guidance of the only Caf ‘A’ licensed female coach in seven dugout appearances.

Tigers will play away to Kamboi Eagles in Kenema in their next league encounter.

On Thursday, One of the country’s most decorated side Mighty Blackpool continue their poor form after another barren draw against Freetown City FC.

The Tis Tas boys have only managed one win all season after three draws and three defeats.

Their first win came in a five-goal thriller overcoming Central Parade 3-2 their first league win from seven matches in this campaign.

Later Today, FC Kallon could close the gap on Kamboi Eagles to two points if they overcome Central Parade.

The Cavaliers who won their last game away to Freetown City 1-0 will want to capitalise knowing the importance of such advantage.

FC Johansen end Kamboi Eagles unbeaten run 

Sierra Leone Premier League leaders Kamboi Eagles suffered their first loss of the season after 1-0 defeat to FC Johansen on Wednesday in Freetown.

Forward Melvin Davies’ scored the only goal for the host inside the opening five minutes of play. 

The victory was a crucial three points for the host team who move to fifth place on the log with 13 points after their third straight win of the campaign while Eagles remain top of the table with 19 points five clear of second-place side FC Kallon.

Speaking to FSL News after Wednesday’s match, Johansen boss Abdulai Kaloga Bah said his side have been playing well despite results have not been forthcoming.

He also admitted that they are still in the rebuilding process.

“We deserved to win because we have been playing well. However, we are still in the process of rebuilding the team to reach its full potential.”

“The team spirit and confidence is improving match after match since our first victory. That has been the turning point to our season,” he told FSL News.

Before the game, Kamboi Eagles played seven games without conceding a single goal winning six and a draw.

Later today, Mighty Blackpool who has been struggling this season will host Freetown City. One of Sierra Leone’s most decorated side (Mighty Blackpool) with one win in their last seven games.

FCFC, on the other hand, are second from bottom after five defeats in eight league matches played.

Sierra Leone was eliminated from the FIFA U20 Women World Cup qualifiers on Saturday after a goalless draw at the Pikine Stadium in Senegal in their return leg match.

The Young Queens were defeated in the first leg contest at the Bo City Stadium Southern province Sierra Leone a fortnight ago.

As a result, Senegal will face Tanzania in the next round of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after a 1-0 aggregate win.

Sierra Queen’s coach Alhaji Foray felt disappointed after his side missed a few clear chances that could have overturned the result.
