George Kewku Davies, who last month signed for Latvian top-flight side Riga FC, got off to a losing start.
Davies, 21, new side lost their opening Virslīga 2018 league contest 1-0 away to FK Liepāja on Saturday, March 31.
Gonzalo Negro from Argentina scored FK Liepāja only goal.
Davies wearing No 21 jersey was introduced in the last six minutes on his away debut but could not help his side salvage a draw.
The winger departed Austrian club St Polten having played only seven top-flight matches.
FC Riga second league match is a big derby against FK Rīgas FS today and the former St.Polten attacker is expected to make his home debut.
Davies is the second Sierra Leonean to have played for the Latvian side following John Kamara, who was an instrumental figure in the 2016 side.
The former Floridsdorfer AC midfielder was first call-up to the Sierra Leone national team in August 2012 against Cape Verde but made his senior international debut in 2013 against Tunisia in a 2-1 away defeat.

Sierra Leone youngster Michael Kargbo has signed a professional undisclosed contract with Swedish Superettan side AFC Eskilstuna.
The 18-year-old striker, who was spotted in Makeni, becomes the latest youngster acquired by the club and will be wearing the clubs 99 jerseys.
“He is a very fast striker, who can also play on the wings,” Talenti Sports Agency added, “The attacker is still developing.”
He has been a brilliant prospect since moving to Sweden and will be the second Sierra Leonean on the club’s roster in recent years.
AFC Eskilstuna relegated from the Swedish Top-flight last season and Kargbo’s compatriots Mohamed Buya Turay was part of the side.
The youngster is expected to be in the AFC side against Falkenberg away in match-day two of the 2018 Swedish Superettan season on Saturday.

The world football governing body, Fifa has demanded that the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) make key changes to its electoral process.
According to a communique to the EFF dated 2 April, Fifa’s Secretary General Fatma Samoura noted, the elections cannot take place until the electoral process is brought into line with Fifa statutes.
The communique also stated that EFF new elections must take place before 3 June 2018.
Four times EEF elections have been postponed amidst persistent infighting over the electoral process.
Following several “confusion” regarding the electoral procedure and rules because of the “absence of a proper legal framework.”
Fifa highlighted the make-up of Ethiopia’s electoral committee and electoral appeals committee, saying there are members who appear to be either officials or members of the EFF, including presidents of regional associations, which is deemed as a conflict of interest.
The head of the Electoral Committee, Zerihun Mekonnen, is also the head of the Amhara Regional State Football Federation.
The EFF has been told it must convene an extraordinary general assembly to adopt an electoral code and to elect a new electoral committee and new electoral appeals committee.
Five candidates are vying for a place to the take control of football in Ethiopia.
They include current incumbent Juniedi Basha, former president Dr Ashebir Woldegiorgis and ex-vice-president Teka Assefaw.
Some 16 candidates including former national team head trainers Sewnet Bishaw and Asrat Haile are locking horns in the hope of being elected to the executive committee.

Sierra Leone striker Donald Wellington scored his first Ghana Premier League goal for newcomers Karela United on Sunday.
Karela United thrashed Ebusua Dwarfs 3-0 to register first league win at Cam Park on match-day four of the ongoing season.
The exciting and experienced attacker, who joined the Ghanaian side in January for an undisclosed fee, was named Man of the March for his matchday goal and assists.
Wellington scored Karela United’s third goal of the game, provided the assist for Diawisie Taylor’s opener.
Right back Isaac Kwain scored Karela’s second goal.
Diawisie Taylor sets new record after scoring the host opener in the opening 20 second of the match to unsettle their visitors.
Taylor’s goal against the Dwarfs was the fastest goal in the history of the Ghana Premier League.
Karela next league outing is away to Dreams FC on Sunday 8 April at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Sierra Leone’s Shooting Stars suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Guinea Bissau in the U-20 African Cup of Nations first leg preliminary.
Italy’s Sampdoria striker João Cláudio Gomes Ricciulli scored the only goal for the host in the opening 11th minute’s well-conducted counterattack on Sunday in Bissau at the 24 de Setembro Stadium.
In a tough and difficult period of the match, resilient Sierra Leone played for almost 30 minutes with a man down following Joseph K Turay sending off in the 65th minute.
Seven of the 15 foreign-based named by Coach Emiliano Te’ for this contest, was unable to play reasons unknown.
Sierra Leone Cameroonian technician, Ken Tabi will see this result as the perfect opportunity to set a date with Nigeria’s Flying Eagles.
But, Shooting Stars will have to produce the goals at the Bo City Stadium in a fortnight if they are to reach the next round of the U-20 qualifiers.

In his post-match interview, Djurtinhos Emiliano Té lamented the impossibility of having seven players not allowed for the match this afternoon. but emphasized that the most important was to win at home against Sierra Leone.
Té confessed that the decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) changed the plans of the technical team for the first leg of the qualifying first leg for AFCON-Niger’2019.
“It is difficult to manage, but we believe in the players we have available and we have won,” Emiliano Té emphasized and then conceded that the result is a little thin, adding that the U20 national team is still under construction.
Sierra Leone’s assistant coach, Raymond Lewis maintained that Shooting Stars will do their best to eliminate the ‘Djurtinhos’ in Sierra Leone.
