Al Ittihad sign Sierra Leone striker Musa Noah Kamara

Al Ittihad sign Sierra Leone striker Musa Noah Kamara

Libyan top-tier Al Ittihad side have confirmed the signing of Sierra Leone Internationa Musa Noah Kamara a few days after the striker’s contract was terminated by local Chmapiosn Bo Rangers.

Last week, the 22-year-old striker’s contract with Sierra Leone reigning Champions Bo Rangers was terminated for lack of discipline.

Kamara, who was the Sierra Leone Premier League best player and top scorer after spending just one season, has signed for Al-Ittihad. However, the details of his contract were not mentioned.

“In his country, he is famous for his goals in the elephant’s window, distinguished by his rocket launchers and heads. We welcomed with us the Sierra Leonean train Musa Kamara,” the club said on their Facebook page.
They have won the Libyan Premier League 19 times, the Libyan Cup 7 times and the Libyan SuperCup 10 times.

Kamara, who helped Rangers with 19 goals to win their first league title in 68 years, was part of the Sierra Leone side during the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The striker is a back-to-back golden boot winner – the Rangers striker is the first local star to achieve this milestone. He first won the 2019 Sierra Leone National Premier League with 15 goals with then champions East End Lions.

He scored the first goal that helped to revive Sierra Leone to a 2-2 draw against the Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations group stage at the Japoma Stadium in January.

Kamara signed his first professional contract in 2019 when he joined Swedish club Trelleborgs FF on a three-and-a-half-year deal in August 2019 but cancelled his contract after a week.

Mali seal CHAN spot in Bamako after win over Sierra Leone

The wait for Sierra Leone local stars to compete in the African Nations Championship will continue after home-based Leone Stars suffered a 4-1 aggregate defeat to Mali in their doubleheader.

Goals from Makan Samabali and Hamidou Sinayoko help the local Les Aigles (The Eagles) book their place in Algeria next year.

Mali sealed qualification for the 2022 African Nations Championship with a 2-0 away win over the Sierra Leone B team at the Stade du 26 Mars on Saturday.

After their first leg 2-1 away triumphs at the SKD Stadium last Saturday,  Mali took the lead through Makan Samabali in the 35th minute before Hamidou Sinayoko wrapped up their victory.

It means Sierra Leone had failed again to participate in the tournament of local players playing in their national league competitions since 2009.

The first tournament was first held in Ivory Coast in 2009 and was won by the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Elsewhere in Mauritania, Sierra Leone’s U20 national side also suffered a back-to-back defeat in the WAFU Zone A U-20 Tournament.

Following the Shooting Stars’ 3-0 opening defeat to Mali, they suffered a 2-0 loss to host Mauritania at the Stade Cheikha Ould Boïdiya on Saturday.

A total of five goals were conceded without any reply from coach Sillah’s side.

They will face Guinea-Bissau in their final group match. However, as it stands, they are heading home after two defeats.
