The 20-time Guinean champions will be away to Ivorian giant Asec Mimosa in the preliminary second-round first leg at the Municipal Stadium in Yamoussoukro.

Kamara, who has been named in Horoya’s 25-man squad for their trip to Ivory Coast, is expected to make his third appearance in the CAF Champions League competition.

“I am excited and looking forward to our match against Asec. I am pleased to be selected among the 25-man squad for the trip,” Kamara told FSL News.

“A big opportunity for me because the CAF Champions League is the biggest for African clubs. To make the squad, I am grateful to God.

“I am looking forward to making my CAF Champions League debut with Horoya AC. If selected, I’ll grab the chance on Sunday.”

Since joining the club, Kamara has made two appearances for Horoya in the first edition of the West Africa Champions Cup played at the Yorokoguia sports complex in August.

The Sierra Leone International Mohamed Kamara made his Horoya AC debut in a 2-1 win over Djoliba AC in the opener of the West Africa Champion’s Cup on Sunday, August 21.

The Sierra Leonean sensation of the 2021 African Cup of Nation joined Horoya Athletic Club on a two-year deal in May 2022.

Steven Caulker makes first Fatih Karagümrük start

Sierra Leone skipper Steven Caulker made his first start for Turkish League Super League side Fatih Karagümrük in their 2-1 defeat to Istanbulspor AS on Monday.

The former Fenerbahce defender played his first 90 minutes for his new club since he joined on a two-year deal.
After their match day 8th defeat, Caulker has this to say.

“In the first half, we actually did not perform well according to ourselves. We did not get the result we wanted. I do not think we played very well. Congratulations to Istanbulspor,” Caulker told pressmen.

“We are very sorry, there were positions that we could make 2 or 3 differences, but we could not evaluate them. Now, we have to look ahead and perform better. We have a Fenerbahce match in front of us.”

Last season, the Center-back spent the entire 2021–22 season on loan with fellow Süper Lig side Gaziantep – where he made 29 topflight appearances scoring two goals.

CAF reopens bidding process for 2025 Cup of Nations

CAF reopens bidding process for 2025 Cup of Nations

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) have reopened the bidding process for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The decision was taken on Saturday, October 1, in Algeria on the back of the decision to strip Guinea of the hosting rights.

Meanwhile, CAF has extended its best wishes to all five teams that have qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

CAF wishes Senegal, Tunisia, Ghana, Morocco and Cameroon all of the best in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Recap – In 2014, CAF awarded the 2019 tournament to Cameroon, the 2021 event to Ivory Coast and the 2023 edition to Guinea.

Then Egypt replaced Cameroon for 2019 with CAF shifting the calendar, awarding the 2021 edition to Cameroon, which was held this year, and the 2023 edition to Ivory Coast.

Guinea had then agreed to organise the 2025 edition. This is also a severe blow to Guinea.

Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, who came to power in a coup in September 2021, had expressed his firm intention to honour the commitment to hosting.

The event was always going to be a significant challenge for one of the world’s poorest countries, which is sorely lacking in infrastructure, sports facilities and transportation.

Fornah’s Reading beat Huddersfield to remain third

Fornah’s Reading beat Huddersfield to remain third

Reading cruised to a comfortable victory over Huddersfield to remain third in the Championship, and condemn new Terriers boss Mark Fotheringham to a losing start.

Midfielder Tyrese Fornah, who was a 65th-minute substitute, has featured in twelve Englihs Championship matches this campaign since his laon move from Nottingam Forest.

Paul Ince’s side recorded their seventh win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Huddersfield Town in RG2.

The Royals scored twice before half-time in the Berkshire sunshine thanks to a Tom McIntyre header and an own goal from Huddersfield keeper Lee Nicholls.

Substitute Yakou Meite added a third for the Royals shortly after coming on, with Tom Lees scoring a late consolation for the Terriers in added time.

It was the first game in charge for new Huddersfield boss Fotheringham following his appointment on Wednesday, and he will be under no illusions as to how tough a job he has taken on after replacing Danny Schofield.

After Coventry won for the first time this season by beating Middlesbrough, the Terriers are now only one point off the bottom of the table and are three points from safety.

Reading took the lead just before the half-hour mark as centre-back McIntyre connected with Tom Ince’s corner and headed the ball back across goal into the corner of the net.

The lead was doubled 10 minutes before half-time as Nicholls was only able to divert Jeff Hendrick’s cross into his own net.

The second half continued in the same vein, with Meite scoring 10 minutes after coming on, converting from close range after Nicholls had spilled the ball.

Lees headed home from a Sorba Thomas corner in the last minute of stoppage time to give the suffering Huddersfield fans something to cheer.

Sierra Leone outclass host Mauritania in U17 opener

Sierra Leone Sierra Stars put in a five-star performance, as Daniel Deen Sesay scored a brace to outshined their host at the Stade Cheikh Boidiya on Saturday.

Sierra Stars opened their TotalEnergies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers for WAFU (Zone A) tournament with a comprehensive victory. Their next match will be against neighbours Liberia on Wednesday.

Daniel Deen Sesay, who was awarded the Man of the Match trophy by the competition technical officers, scored in the 11th and 32nd minute, respectively.

Abu Bakarr Bangura completed the victory for Sierra Leone in the 48th minute as they await Liberia for their final group contest.

A good chance for Sierra Leone, a win against Liberia, will see them to the next stage. The two finalists are to compete in the U17 tournament in Algeria in 2023.

As a reminder, across all national levels, Sierra Stars remain the only Sierra Leone side to have participated in a FIFA competition after their impressive performance in the 2003 U-17 African qualifiers hosted in Swaziland and qualified for the World Cup finals in Finland alongside Nigeria and Cameroon under the guidance of former Sierra Leone International Musa Kallon.
