Algeria U17 2023 groups confirmed

The group stage for the TotalEnergies U-17 2023 has been confirmed following the draw on Wednesday after twelve teams were divided into groups. We can bring you the details of the three groups of this year’s tournament.

Cameroon is among three former champions who will play in the same group at the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria later this year.

Two two-time winners Cameroon to battle with Mali in Group C following the draw held at the Cercle National de l’Armée in Algiers.

The tricky group also includes former champions Burkina Faso and debutants South Sudan.

Hosts Algeria will face a tough task in Group A against Senegal, Congo and Somalia in the schedule to kick off n April.

The home side will also take on Congo and debutants Somalia and will be based in the capital Algiers.

Striker Musa Kamara returns to Bo Rangers on loan

Libyan club Al Ittihad striker Musa Noah Kamara is to join Bo Rangers on a six-month loan deal, Football Sierra Leone understands.

Bo Rangers are yet to make any official statement. However, a reliable source has confirmed this.

Al Ittihad announced Kamara’s capture in September last year on a free transfer after his contract with the reigning Sierra Leone champions was terminated.

The 22-year-old, who was unsettled upon his arrival in Libyan, has yet to play any match in the Libyan Premier League. He has been without active football for six months, but a loan move could revitalise his playing career.

Before his move, he was the Sierra Leone Premier League’s best player and top scorer. Kamara, who helped Rangers with 19 goals to win their first league title in 68 years, was part of the Sierra Leone side during the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The striker is a back-to-back golden boot winner – the Rangers striker is the first local star to achieve this milestone. He first won the 2019 Sierra Leone National Premier League with 15 goals with then-champions East End Lions.

He scored the first goal that helped to revive Sierra Leone to a 2-2 draw against the Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations group stage at the Japoma Stadium in January.

Kamara penned his first professional contract in 2019 with Swedish club Trelleborgs FF on a three-and-a-half-year deal in August 2019 but cancelled his contract after a week.

John Kamara signs for Greek League 2 side Egaleo

Greek Super League 2 side Aigaleo FC Athens have today signed defensive midfielder John Kamara on a short-term contract, keeping him at the club until the end of the current season.

Kamara, 34, who last played for Romania side FC Politehnica Iași, has been handed a new opportunity as he returned to Greek football.

Eleven years ago, the Sierra Leone International played for his first Greek club Apollon Smyrni, where he made over 45 appearances in all competitions before moving to Lamia ahead of the 2014/ so15 season.

Aigaleo FC Athens will be his fourth club trading within South-eastern Europe and his tenth professional club since 2008, when he first join Tadamon Sour.

The former Riga and Kaysar defensive midfielder admitted his delight after he penned the deal.

“I’m delighted to be back in Greece and cannot wait to get started. I am pleased to start a new chapter in my career as I look forward to meeting my new teammates, and as always, ready to help the club,” Kamara briefly told FSL News.

In his career, Kamara has had spells in Tadamon Sour (Lebanon), Apollon Smyrnis(Greece), PAS Lamia (Greece), Aris Saloniki (Greece), FC Riga (Latvia), Kaysar (Kazakhstan), Keshla Azerbaijan and

Politehnica Iași in Romania.

Isaac Babadi nets Young PSV winner over Willem II

Isaac Babadi scored the young PSV winner in their 3-2 triumph over WillemII in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie – the second tier of Dutch football at training complex De Herdgang on Monday evening.

Young PSV booked an important victory against Willem II with goals from Mohamed Nassoh, Jason Van Duiven and Isaac Babadi in a match that played for 94th minutes.

Jong PSV had fallen behind and had taken the lead twice. Sierra Leone’s Isaac Babadi, who signed his first professional contract with PSV in April 2021, scored the winner in the 94th minute of extra time.

Babadi is an attacking midfielder, who plays for the PSV U18’s side – a Dutch citizen with Sierra Leone roots.

The young prospect, who put pen to paper on a deal until the summer of 2024, joined PSV Academy from N.E.C. Nijmegen in the 2018-19 season.

SPAL have Crotone attacker Augustus Kargbo on radar

Serie B side SPAL are reportedly interested in signing Sierra Leone International attacker Augustus Kargbo before the January transfer deadline.

Kargbo, who made his Serie A debut in Crotone 4-1 loss to Genoa in September 2020, could sign for his sixth Italian club.

“We lack a player with those characteristics since Rabbi and Rauti are different. I like players with leg and cue, a bit like Lookman and Boga from Atalanta. These players, often of African origin, have an important physicality and a devastating shot, and they can split the game even in the last half hour”, Roma legend Daniele De Rossi the SPAL boss, has said about Kargbo.

However, the Serie C are reluctant to let the 23-year-old winger leave this window. Augustus Kargbo, who has played in 20 matches this campaign and scored two goals, could still leave with the right bid.

Toto Cup delights for Sierra Leone International

Emmanuel Samadia celebrated his first top accolade in professional football after Hapoel Rishon Lezion won the Liga Luemit Toto Cup 1-0 at the HaMoshava Stadium on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.

The Sierra Leone International, who joined the club in July last year, has been a pivotal figure for Hapoel Rishon Lezion since joining the club.

He initially joined Israeli Liga Leumit club Hapoel Umm al-Fahm on a one-month trial in December 2020 before he signed a two-year contract with the club in January 2021, scoring two goals in 50 appearances.

He then made his way to Hapoel Rishon LeZion on a free transfer in July 2022. He has featuered in 14 games in the 2022/2023 Liga Leumit.

The club is presently ninth in the Israeli second-tier standings after 21 games on 30 points.

Since making his International debut in a 1-0 loss against Niger in October 2020, he has been a regular in coach Joh Keister’s side.

Sierra Leone winger Emmanuel Samadia celebrated his first major honour in professional football after Hapoel Rishon LeZion won the Liga Luemit Toto Cup 1-0 against H Ramat HaSharon on Wednesday.
