Sierra Leone midfielder Kamil Conteh was on target as his relegation-threatened Gateshead struck twice late to snatch a draw at fellow strugglers Oldham Athletic AFC.

Conteh, 20, who Joined on loan from Middlesbrough, scored in the 81st minute as they reduced the deficit, his fourth of the season in as many games.

Latics was on their way to propelling themselves away from the drop zone after Alex Reid converted his first goal for the club from close range after John Rooney’s opener in the 50th minute.

MKO Stadium to host Nigeria, Guinea Bissau AFCON qualifier

MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja set to host Nigeria’s Matchday 3 African Cup of Nations qualifier against the Wild Dogs of Guinea Bissau on March 24, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has said, according to a report from Nigeria.

However, Guinea Bissau’s football federation, Federação de Futebol da Guiné-Bissau, has not picked a date for the second match, which could hold either in Guinea-Bissua or Morocco on March 27 or 28.

“CAF inspected the national stadium 24 September, expected to host the African Cup of Nations qualifier match between Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria next March in Bissau,” Bissua Federation has said.

The Guinean government, the Football Federation and society at large await the final report of the inspector’s work, hoping that it will authorize the taking of “CAF and FIFA” games.

Guinea-Bissau have been playing their AFCON qualifying matches away from home due to a lack of an International stadium. They are among the African nations without an approved stadium.

Group A match day one of the qualifying series, the Super Eagles fought back from a ferocious start to the game after an 11th-minute goal by Jonathan Morsay (In Photo) – to defeat the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone 2-1 in Abuja after Alex Iwobi and Victor Osimhen hit back hard at the visitors.

Meanwhile, Sierra Leone’s 2-2 draw against Guinea-Bissau means they are third behind Bissau.

Guinea-Bissau on four points and occupies second place. Nigeria, who thrashed Sao Tome 10-0 in Morocco Stade d Agadir, top Group A with six points.

“This is my second quarter-final in this competition. Hopefully, this time will be victorious. No easy match when it comes to a knockout match in any competition. However, we have to be brave to play against a difficult opposition on Saturday.”

Sullay Kaikai nets first Dons goal in Oxford draw

Sierra Leone attacker Sulllay Kaikai got his first goal for MK Dons in their 1-1 draw against Oxford United at the Stadium MK on Saturday.

Kaikai scored the Dons’ opener in the 25-minutes, but Lewis Bate’s 71st-minute superb goal earned a point for Oxford at MK Dons as a reward for a much-improved second-half performance by the visitors.

The draw means Dons remain one point clear of the League One relegation zone, just their third home win of the season.

The hosts were ahead when Sullay Kaikai was allowed to cut inside from the left before he found the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Having opened his account for his new club, Kaikai should have had his second when he shot wide of an open goal from Tennai Watson’s cut-back.

The Sierra Leone international, 27, who made ten appearances this season for the Wycombe Wanderers goal was not enough to win it for his new side.

Their wastefulness came back to haunt them in the 71st minute as Bate drew Oxford level with a wonderful strike from outside the box that flew into the top corner.
