Defender Kevin Wright rescues late Örebro SK point

  • Sierra Leone native Kevin Wright rescued late Örebro SK point.
  • The defender hailing from Sierra Leonean parents scored his second goal in Sweden.

Wright, 23, scored an equaliser four minutes into stoppage time as Örebro SK claimed a 2-2 Allsvenskan draw with IFK Göteborg on Monday at the Behrn Arena.

Robin Soder scored a brace for the visitors in the 41′ and 63rd minutes before Orebro rallied to secure a point.

The host increase pressure to reduce the deficit after debutant Kasim placed a quick ball into the penalty for Jake Larsson in the 81st minute, who was completely free. He made no mistake with a cool finish to make it 2-1.

In four additional, ÖSK made a last and final effort with a long ball from the right that was headed home by Kevin Wright to level the scoreline 2-2.

There were no more goals, and both teams had to settle for a point after a very entertaining match.

The result means that the Örebro-based club sits in 8th position with 21 points.

John Jeboh Sherrington, who is the head of the Technical Department, will tentatively handle the National Team training ahead of Liberia doubleheader.

East End Tigers top striker, Baimba Sesay, who was the second top scorer in the just-concluded Premier League, Bo Rangers midfielder Nathaniel Tongovulla and FC Kallon smart midfielder, Abu Komeh including 48 others make up a list of 51 names selected to start preparation.

Sierra Leone will travel to the Liberian capital Monrovia, to open their 2022 World Cup preliminary Qualifiers first week September with the return fixture billed for Freetown a week after.

They will also open their African Cup of Nation campaign at home against the Crocodiles of Lesotho November 11th in Freetown.

In another development, the SLFA further noted that the announcement of a new coach is expected to be done before the weekend.

Kargbo scores in three-straight wins for Berliner AK 07 in Germany

  • Abu Bakar Kargbo scored his fourth goal in three consecutive appearances as Berliner AK 07 overcome VfB Germania Halberstadt 2-1 on Saturday.

The Sierra Leonean native has started where he left off last season with an impressive goal-scoring form.

His German Regionaliga side opened their 2019 campaign with an impressive 4-2 victory with Kargbo netting a brace against Bischofswerdaer FV 08.

The striker, who was part of Sierra Leone’s friendly against Iran on March 2018, followed it up with another goal in their victory over FSV Union Furstenwalde in matchday two in their second victory of the season on the 31st of July.

In Matchday three again Kargbo was on target in the win over VfB Germania.

The Berliner have now won their opening three matches in the 2019/20 campaign.

As a result, they are top of the German Regionalliga Nordost and Kargbo is the team top scorer.

He became just the second player in MLS history to score a hat trick and an own goal in the same game, joining NYCFC’s Heber, who did it in June.

As a result, Kamara continued to climb up the MLS all-time goalscoring charts after hitting 123 against Montreal.

Kamara opened the scoring with an own goal in the 18th minute that gave Montreal the lead.

The tie was level from another own goal from Montreal goalkeeper Evan in the 21st minute.

He gave Colorado a 2-1 lead in the 36th minute with a penalty kick and made it 3-1 in the first minute of first-half stoppage time.

Colorado’s triumph continue when Diego Rubio scored to make it 4-1 three minutes before halftime.

After the re-start, Maximiliano Urruti and Saphir Taïder scored in the 55th and 76th minutes respectively for Montreal before Andre Shinyashiki scored two minutes later to help the Rapids open a two-goal lead.

Sierra Leone international, Prince Barrie, says he is happy with his decision to join Egyptian side Al Mokawloon Al Arab Sporting Club aka Arab Contractors Sporting Club.

The former Hafia attacking midfielder has signed a four-year deal worth around $ 70,000, with a 20% increase each year, Football Sierra Leone understands.

The Mountain Wolves, over the years, have produced some of the most famous and talented players in Egypt, including Abdel Sattar Sabry, Mohamed Salah and  Mohamed Elneny

Barrie, 21, who scored three goals in 16 appearances with Hafia, told football Sierra Leone that he can’t wait to get started.

“I am happy with my decision to join such a big club in Africa, and I can’t wait to get started,” Barrie told FSL News.

“The Egyptian Premier League is tough and beautiful to play against top oppositions.”

“It is a new beginning for me. I am ready to work hard and make the Green, White and Blue flying high in this part of the world. I pray that I have a good season with my new club.”

Ivorian International Jean-Philippe Gbamin joins Everton

  • Premiership side Everton have confirmed the signing of Mainz midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin on a five-year contract for £25m.
  • The 23-year-old is delighted with his move to the Premiership club.

“It’s a big moment with a lot of emotion, and now it’s on me to prove on the pitch why they bought me,” Gbamin told Everton tv.

“I’m excited because Everton is a great club here in England with a big history and ambition, so I didn’t think for more than a moment I wanted to come here.

Gbamin has won 11 international caps with Ivory Coast. He moved to Mainz in 2016, where he made 86 Bundesliga appearances scoring three goals.

The defensive midfielder was part of the Ivory Coast squad at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt and made three appearances for The Elephants as they reached the quarter-finals.
