Nuno da Costa in Forest squad for trip to Birmingham

Cape Verde international, Nuno Da Costa, has been included in the Nottingham Forest side for their trip to Birmingham on Saturday.

The striker joined the Championship side for an undisclosed fee from RC Strasbourg.

Costa, 28, who enjoyed promotion with the French top-tier side, making a total of 87 appearances including in the Europa League, has been included in Forest side for the trip to Birmingham City on Saturday.

The frontman also has international experience with Cape Verde, regularly featuring in the qualification stages for the African Cup of Nations.

Manager Sabri Lamouchi has been eager to sign a striker since arriving at the club in June.

Lewis Grabban currently the only recognised forward in the squad after Rafa Mir has returned to Wolves after a loan spell while promising youngster Tyler Walker is on a season-long deal with League One side Lincoln City.

Nottingham Forest has been great this campaign sitting third as they target promotion.

Joe Lolley’s first-half goal was enough to help his side to third place within two points of the top two spots after beating fellow promotion hopefuls Brentford at Griffin Park.

Host Kamboi Eagles unbeaten so far winning five out of their six matches played in this campaign.

The Killers, on the other hand, defeat big money spenders Bo Rangers in their last encounter to move up to second behind their host.

“We are going to respect them, they have been so compact and composed this season,” Kemson to FSL news.

The former B93 defender added, “After our victory over Bo Rangers, we moved up to second, and that on it own is a motivation.”

“It’s going to a tough, strong and exciting game against the current league leaders. Kamboi Eagles an organised side, and we are the defending champions which mean we want to win every match.”

Fofanah has played in their last five fixtures since joining after a spell with Danish third-tier side Boldklubben 1893.

Suffian Kalolok set to play for AIK against Gif Sundsvall

Striker Suffian Kalokoh, 18, is set to play for Swedish top-tier side AIK on Friday.

AIK have confirmed that they will be looking at the player in the next coming days. Photo Kalokoh who arrived in Karlberg on Wednesday, if impressive will stay.

The 2019 West African Football Union (Wafu) Zone A Under-20 Championship Golden Boot award winner with his six goals for Sierra Leone, will be with the AIK’s squad for test against Gif Sundsvall on the 31st.

The AIK Freetong player will also travel with the club to their training camp in Marbella, Spain (February 7-16). Suffian will be on trials from January 29-February 18 Football Sierra Leone understands.

“He has qualities that interest us,” AIK scouting manager Tobias Ackerman told club’s website.”

“We have had the opportunity to look at Suffian in our operations for a little longer than normal. We think that is good considering his young age and that he has not been to Europe before.”

He scored his first international hat-trick as Sierra Leone beat 10-man Mauritania 3-1 in match the day of the competition before another brace to help Sierra Leone down host Guinea en-route to the semi-finals.

Kalokoh scored six goals ahead of all the strikers from the eight representing Countries and was named Man of the Match after his three goals against Mauritania. 

The young attacker scored his first international goal on his debut against Liberia at the 2019 Wafu Nations Cup in Senegal in September.

Kalokoh finished behind Musa Tombo and Baimba Sesay as the third-highest goal scorer with 10 goals, while playing for Old Edwardians last season in the Sierra Leone Premier League.

Former Super Eagles, Udinese star Obodo escapes death

Former Super Eagles Midfielder Christian Obodo survived a ghastly auto accident along Ozoro road in Delta State, over the weekend.

According to sources close to the former Udinese of Italy playmaker, the accident took place along Ozoro road in Delta State, Nigeria.

Obodo is regarded by many as one of the most skilful and talented midfielders to play for Nigeria since the 1994 era.

In 2012, the former Udinese man was reportedly kidnapped by gunmen near Warri, Delta State. He was rescued the next day in nearby Isoko by men of the Nigerian police force.

He made six appearances out of 10 in the 2006 World Cup qualification series, scoring a goal. At the 2006 African Cup of Nations, he featured in 4 of Nigeria’s six games, scoring in the 2–0 win over Zimbabwe.

Obodo last played for the Super Eagles in 2008.

CAF CL: Zamalek, Raja, Esperance & Wydad advance 

Egyptian side Zamalek advanced to the CAF Champions League quarter-finals after Zesco United’s draw against Primeiro de Agosto.

Zesco’s 1-1 final scoreline against Primeiro de Agosto on Saturday end their hopes of qualification for the knockout stages.

As a result, Zamalek into the quarter-finals second with eight points behind TP Mazembe in Group A of the CAF Champions League.

Elsewhere, Esperance and Raja ended in a 2-2 draw at the Olympic Stadium in Rades, where the Tunisian hosts and reigning African kings needed a late equaliser from Fed Ben Choug to ensure they remained unbeaten.

Both sides first, and second respectively from Group D. 

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns’ a late equaliser secure a 2-2 draw away to Petro de Luanda in a CAF Champions League Group C match at Estadio 11 de Novembro on Saturday afternoon.

The South African side leading their group with 11 points already secured quarterfinal qualification earlier in the month, will face Wydad Athletic Club in their final match.

Wydad Athletic Club thrashed USM Alger 3-1 to advanced on Friday.

Hard work key to Keşla FK good form, says Kamara

John Kamara believes the down-to-earth nature of the current Keşla FK squad has been a key to their firm form an excellent start to their Azerbaijan Premier League campaign.

The Sierra Leone midfielder has played sixteen times in all competition this season helping the club to a third-place sitting on the table after first two rounds.

Kamara, who has just returned from their Turkey Antalya training camp where they lost two of their three friendly matches told FSL News that they are going to keep working towards their target which is to qualify for European competition.

“Two defeats in Turkey during our training camp but the reality is the positive attitude, hard work of the team,” Kamara said.

“We have worked so hard, and we have to keep working harder if we want to be at the top by the end of this campaign.”

The 31-year-old defensive midfielder reiterated that the positive attitude of his teammates will keep minds focused on their aims for this season.

“The team is full of confidence and that what we have shown this season. European qualification is top of the clubs target.”

Keşla FK next matches will be against bottom table teams Gabala and Sabail FK as they resumed the top-flight.
