FC Kallon registered their fifth win of the season with a goal apiece in each half as they moved top of the Sierra Leone Premier at least until after Lions face RSLAF.
The Cavaliers amassed 20 points after 2-0 win over Kamboi Eagles from 11 matches played in the first round.
Attacking player Sallieu Tarawallie opened the scoring for the host in the 12th minute through an Emmanuel Samadiya cross, that beat the Eagles defence.
The host could have double their score 15min later when Mahmoud Fofanah lined up a free kick in a dangerous position just on the edge of the area, but his attempt was rifled into the Eagles wall.
Kamboi Eagles responded immediately with an attack at the other end, but with time and space in the box, Ron Gandi Williams rushed his shot and deposited the ball into the stands.
FC Kallon finally doubled their advantage in the 64th minute through a counter-attack that saw Abu Kommeh heading in another Emmanuel Samadiya cross making it two assists of the night.
Kamboi Eagles tried to respond, but all efforts went off target which was frustrating for the visitors and their supporters.
In the 88th min, the Eagles came close to get consolation from a one on one position, again they were denied by goalkeeper Isaac Caulker.
“We came here with the mindset of winning, but football is funny we lost. Now, we have to get ourselves prepared for our next match. It has been difficult in our last few games, but we need to get back on track soonest,” Eagles Coach Foray he told FSL News.
Speaking to this medium, head coach Amidu Karim said, “The win was important on for us considering every game has been difficult so far this season.”
“In this league, you can’t class no team as an underdog they gave us a good test, but we were stronger than them that football.”
East End Lions the only top four sides that have played 10 games, will go three points clear with a win over the military boys RSLAF.
