EE Lions boss John Keister not looking too far ahead

Sierra Leone Premier League leaders, East End Lions boss, John Keister has insisted his men are solely focused on taking each game at a time.

Talks of Lions are with the advantage of lifting this year’s title is not the most important to the former Walsall and Dover Athletic man.

Keister’s side still unbeaten leading their closest rivals FC Kallon by three points with a game in hand.

With three games to lift this year’s title, Keister will be on the dugout again when Lions host Freetown City FC on Saturday at the Freetown Brookfields Stadium.

It will be top against a mid-table contest. However, the man who has guided Lions to a run of 21 games undefeated, has reiterated securing as many points as possible is key in their remaining games.

The technician was very pleased with victory over FC Kallon a few days ago.

“I’m not really looking too ahead, just looking at the next three important matches we have,” he told FSL News.

“We still have three very difficult games, and our approach will be trying to get as many points as possible before looking at anything else.”

Premier Blockbuster as Lions defend top spot against Kallon

East End Lions team will go on the attack against FC Kallon when the two sides meet in their blockbuster Premier League title hunt, Football Sierra Leone understands.

All roads lead to the Siaka Steven Stadium later this evening kick-off 18:30 hours.

EE Lions’ coach John Keister briefly to FSL Media: “We’ve just been working really hard to put things together and for it to work as this is a very difficult game.”

Keister, who did not want to speak on his tactics, has turned the undefeated Red and Black East End giants into a swashbuckling side capable of winning this years’ title.

They stretched their unbeaten run to 20 games with victory over Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces FC. Nevertheless, Lions lead Kallon by a mere point a defeat will see their closest rivals edge them by two points with three games to go.

Admirers talked about the signal of strength, and warning to the league leaders. The Killers are fully aware of the threat their counterparts poses.

The visitors will want to rewrite history, avenging the first leg defeat, and turned things around. Victory will see them moving two points ahead.

Some pundits are of the opinion that when the stakes are high, that is when one of Sierra Leone’s most decorated sides, ‘The Killers’ showcase talents to maintain standards.

It’s expected to be fierce as one of those games you cannot take your eyes off every move until the final whistle all eyes will be on the centre referee.

The Sierra Leone Premier League title race looks to be a two horse race between East End Lions and FC Kallon after ‘The Cavaliers’ superb display against Mighty Blackpool on Saturday.

FC Kallon once against proved they have what it takes to overtake ‘The Killers’ ahead of their crucial meeting.

Goals from Masalakie Bangura and Hassan Milla Koroma were enough to condemned Mighty Blackpool to their first defeat in four matches.

The host outplayed the ‘Tis Tas Boys’ to close the gap to one point on league leaders East End Lions with a clear intent for the title.

EE Lions and Kallon will have to show soccer fans their credentials when the two sides lock horns. A win for either side will give the winner the edge to go all the way to lift the title.

It is an action pack weekend in the ongoing Sierra Leone Premier League as FC Kallon ‘The Cavaliers’ in their quest will be eager to do the double against Mighty Blackpool ‘Tis Tas Boys’.

Kick-off 18:30 local at the Siaka Steven Stadium.

Matches are expected to be cracking, entertaining and fascinating as host football club Kallon going into action knowing only a win will keep their quest for this year’s title undamaged.

FC Kallon, are not comfortable as second best with 38 points five more games to go chasing the undefeated league leaders giants EE Lions.

“FC Kallon won the first round tie 2-0. So we are going to face a team with powerful young players,” James Kanu, a Blackpool fan told FSL News on Friday.

“It’s going to a beautiful weekend at the domestic level,” he said.

One of Sierra Leone’s most decorated club side, The Tis Tas boys, on the other hand, were badly beaten 3-0 by Kamboi Eagles last month. However, they have not lost in their last three outings prior to today’s tie.

In the Eastern Province, Kamboi Eagles standing third behind FC Kallon in the log will host the new face Bo Rangers at the Kenema Town playing field 16:30 pm kick-off.

The Rangers under the supervision of caretaker boss John Konneh have gone five games unbeaten winning three in the process. Conversely, the Eagles are roaring to go. They were victorious in the reverse meeting at the Siaka Steven Stadium beating their counterparts 1-0.

EE Tigers ready to battle League leaders EE Lions

There is no question that today’s contest between East End Tigers and East End Lions is the match of the day as soccer fans gearing up for a cracker. Kickoff 18:30 GMT at the Siaka Steven Stadium.

Lions remain the only unbeaten team this season. However, today is another acid test for one of Sierra Leone’s most decorated side.

The Killers’ won the first leg 1-0 when they host their counterpart in the Sierra Leone top-flight back in March.

Recent back to back defeats to Anti-Drugs and Bo Rangers have seen today’s host dropped to ninth while Lions recently send out a warning to rivals with a 5-1 hammering of Anti-Drugs before playing 1-1 against Ports.

However, many believe it’s the Tigers’ turn to have a go. They’re currently ninth on the table they know nothing else but a win will keep them above mid-table.

“We are determined for this match. We are going into this tie knowing Lions are still the unbeaten League leaders,” EE Tigers fan, who wants to remain undisclosed told FSL News.

He passionately added, “At this moment, they are playing well but we not afraid to take them on. We are ready and know it will be a very demanding game.”

Elsewhere, Bo Rangers under the leadership of caretaker coach John Dominic Konneh will be hoping to continue their recent undefeated form.

The Southern Province club will entertain the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces at their Bo stadium. A game the home fans will be craving for victory.

Sierra Leone static in latest global ranking

Sierra Leone men’s soccer team back to International football after Fifa lifted eight months of suspension, did not gain or lose in latest global rankings published on Friday, June 14 2019.

The Leone Stars of Sierra Leone remained at 115th position with 1172 points the same as April 2019.

Sierra Leone stagnation was due to their disqualification from the 2019 Afcon qualifiers. They were unable to continue in the race despite beating Kenya 2-1 in the competition opener in Freetown.

Sierra Leone last game was a 1-0 defeat in Ethiopia during their second qualifiers September last year before facing disqualification by CAF.

On the continental rating, they are ranked as the 27th best.

Meanwhile, Senegal remains Africa’s highest ranked national team at 22nd spot followed by Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles on 25th in the world.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are third as the 45th best ranked despite sliding three places from previous rankings.

Morocco (47), DR Congo (49) occupy the fourth and fifth spots respectively.
