Midfielder Ibrahim Sillah renews Kickers Emden’s contract

Ibrahim Sillah has decided to stay with the newly promoted Regionalliga BSV Kickers Emden for the 2022 to 2023 season.

“The club says Ibrahim Sillah will stay with BSV Kickers Emden. The 27-year-old midfielder has extended his contract with the newly-promoted Regionalliga,” Kickers Emden said in a statement.

He joined the club from the state league club, Germania Leer, in the summer of 2020 and immediately became a regular player. His achievements did not go unnoticed by Sierra Leone coach John Keister.

“I’m really looking forward to continuing to play for Kickers. The regional league is a great experience for all of us, including the city and the fans. I hope we will provide viewers with exciting games that they will enjoy very much.

As a team will do our best in every game to be successful. Of course, that also applies to me personally,” Sillah to the club’s website.

Sillah was part of the Sierra Leone match-day one and two of the African Cup of Nations 2023 qualifiers against Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau.

After 11 months out, Sankoh features in Stuttgart win

Sierra Leone native Mohamed Sankoh has returned to full action following 11 months out injured. The 18-year-old attacker was back in action for German Bundesliga side VfB’s Stuttgart as they thrashed SV Böblingen on Saturday.

Stuttgart walloped the host team 7-1 in their first pre-season friendly, and head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo was pleased.

Sankoh, who extended his contract in November 2021 until 2026, suffered a knee injury in Stuttgart’s 5-1 triumph over Greuther Fürth in August 2021.

It was his first appearance for the 2021/2022 season but unfortunately happened to be his last for the season.

“It was a successful first test in a great atmosphere with many spectators against an opponent who didn’t limit themselves to defending but played courageous football.

“We only started training a week ago – of course, the details of the processes don’t yet fit in. What I liked was the willingness with which our players acted,” VfB head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo was quoted as saying.

Newly promoted Serie A side Cremonese have set their sights on Sierra Leone attacker Augustus Kargbo, according to the blastingnews.

The outlet claims the Tigers have the 22-year-old on their radar as they look to strengthen their attack ahead of the new Serie A season.

Kargbo’s former coach, Massimiliano Alvini, is keen on the FC Crotone player who is still under contract until summer 2024.

He started his professional career in the Italian fourth-tier Serie D club, Campobasso, before joining Crotone in 2018.

After helping the club gain promotion to Serie A in 2019, he made his Serie A debut as a substitute in a 4-1 defeat in September 2020 before he was sent on to Serie B’s Reggiana to get more playing time.

Last season, he made 32 games scoring three goals and securing three assists, but they suffered relegation from Serie B.
