Augustine Williams was pleased with 50th goal milestone

Augustine Williams, 25, is certainly the man of the moment at Charleston Battery.

New York RB II suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Charleston Battery on Friday, August 12, at MSU Soccer Park.

The Sierra Leone International scored his 50th USL Championship goal in the 32nd minute, helping his Battery’s side to an excellent away victory.

Charleston struck first in the 32nd minute as Augustine Williams converted a penalty kick. They doubled their advantage five minutes after, as Aidan Apodaca collected a loose ball following a long pass from Robbie Crawford and sent a shot into the back of the net.

“I’m thankful to be able to reach this milestone, but I wasn’t able to do it by myself. I want to thank all my amazing teammates and coaches who have helped me to be where I am today,” a delighted Williams told FootballSieraLeone.Net.

Williams, who registered his 13th Charleston Battery goal of the season, reaffirmed that this is just the beginning.

“It’s just the beginning – a renewed confidence has fueled me to want to keep going. I am going to continue to keep my head forward and make sure I keep going higher and higher. Making sure that I accomplish more of the things that I need to be accomplished and scoring more goals to reach more of my goals.”

Battery Head Coach Conor Casey expected his side to build upon the momentum of the result when they head west to face LA Galaxy II on August 20 before returning home on August 27 against Detroit City FC.

Osman Kakay pleased with QPR’s first win of the season

It was a second straight start for Sierra Leone International, who was pleased after Queens Park Rangers’ first win of the new season.

Sierra Leone right-back Osman Kakay has expressed his delight after his London side Queens Park Rangers earned their first points of the season, defeating Middlesbrough 3-2 on Saturday.

QPR held off a strong Middlesbrough fightback to claim a narrow win 3-2 at Loftus Road.

Kakay played the full throttle of the contest as Chris Willock scored a spectacular opener in the 23-minute en-route to their first win of the season.

James Dunne headed in Ilias Chair’s corner to double the R’s lead before Lyndon Dykes made it three for the home side.

However, just before half-time, Matt Crooks’ bullet header gave the visitors some hope as Marcus Forss’ close-range finish on his first start made it 3-2.

Late on in the tie, the visiting side saw a straight red card when Lenihan was dismissed for a knee-high challenge on Bonne.

After the contest, Kakay told Football Sierra Leone he was pleased to help his side to their first win of the season.

“Happy that we got the first win. It will help us build momentum going into the upcoming games,” Kakay briefly told this medium.

The Hoops lost their English Championship opener 1-0 away to Blackburn at Ewood Park last Saturday.

An accomplishment like this is not really about me but the people that follow me. My family, my friends, the fans that followed and appreciate what I do on and off the field for so many years.”

For me, it is a blessing that I can continue to do what I love playing soccer, but at the same time, I am focused on continuing to help my team and teammates.” So, I am enjoying the moment.
