Sierra Leone defender David Simbo delighted with first goal in Turkey

Sierra Leone defender David Simbo was pleased with his first goal in their Turkish Ziraat Cup win over fellow Sierra Leonean (Alfred Sankoh) side Denizlispor on Thursday.

The 27-year-old found the net in the 93′ min with almost the last kick of the game as his side Yeni Amasyaspor beat Denizlispor 1-0. Simbo converted a spot kick following Denizlispor’s defender Alper Babacan handball in the box that was awarded by match official çıkarınca.

The former Krumkachy Minsk defender, enchanted with his goal, Simbo said scoring the winning goal felt great.

“I’m happy for the team and it feels great – was good for me, we did a great job in defense,” he told footballsierraleone.net after helping his side to the next round of the Turkish FA Cup.

“Regarding my goal, it was very important for me to show the leadership today against a big team. And it was great to score the winner that takes us to the next round.

“I’m happy for the fans, they deserved more – was amazing getting the winner,” he added, “With hard work, we can still improve.”

Simbo joined the Turkish side in a bid to rejuvenate his football career following lack of regular football in the Belarusian top flight.

He was very frustrated in Belarus before penned a one-year deal with the Turkish side.

Sierra Leone and New England Revolution striker Kei Kamara was booked following his twerking celebration in his side’s 3-0 comprehensive victory over Montreal Impact on Sunday.

Kamara registered his seventh Revolution’s goal and his twelfth MLS’s goal this campaign in the 71′ min as the Revs thrashed Montreal.

The 32-year-old celebrated with a quick twerk dance move which was not appreciated by the referee, who was swift in cautioning the striker.

Kamara who is the second-leading scorer among active MLS players joined the New England Revolution in his 10th MLS campaign.

Despite their, victory Revolution missed out on making the playoffs on goal difference.

Ishmael Koroma extends Nyköpings BIS contract until 2017

Nyköpings BIS have announced Sierra Leone-born Ishmael Koroma has extended his contract with the club through to the summer of 2017. The 20-year-old joined the Nyköpings-based team in 2014 age 18 and has played just over 60 matches for the club.

“It’s like I found a second new home, I’m very happy to continue with the club,” Koroma told footballsierraleone.net.

“It’s a good club and I’m happy with my development since joining the club. My new contract is until 2017 but I can move if I have better offer otherwise I continue here,” He reiterated.

The club said on their website: “Ishmael is only 20 years old and has shown that he has a good potential to get to the next level.”

Nyköpings BIS, sixth in the standings 22 points adrift from league leaders Brommapojkarna.

Koroma injured his left ankle ligaments in their goalless draw with Carlstad United BK at their Rosvalla IP stadium on Saturday and specialist will evaluate the damage today.

The former old Edwardian defender has been ruled out for the club’s two remaining league matches against Brommapojkarna and Piteå.

New AGF Aarhus signing Mustapha Bundu has made his senior team debut in their 1-0 defeat at the Brondby IF stadium on Sunday.

Sierra Leone defender Koroma out with ligament damage

Sierra Leone and Nyköpings BIS defender Ishmael Koroma is expected to be out of action between six to eight weeks with an ankle injury.

The 20-year-old injured his left ankle ligaments in their goalless draw with Carlstad United BK at their Rosvalla IP stadium on Saturday.

Koroma, who is a key player for the Swedish third-tier side confirmed the news to footballsierraleone.net. He said: “I injured my left ankle ligament in our home game yesterday in the 36th minutes and specialist will evaluate the damage on Monday.”

Koroma will definitely miss their two remaining league matches against Brommapojkarna and Piteå. He has made nineteen appearances for Nyköpings BIS prior to his injury.

The former old Edwardian defender signed a two-year deal with the Swedish Div. 1 side in July 2014 after his impressive one month spell at AIK.

The FC Zurich defender, in theory, will miss the Steaua București Europa League group stage matchday three on Thursday.

Sierra Leone skipper Umaru Zaingallay Bangura has confirmed to footballsierraleone.net that he will be undergoing a second surgery on his let finger tomorrow. “I will undergo the operation again tomorrow,” he said.

The Sierra Leone centre-back initially damaged the finger during training before their last Europa League game against Spanish top-flight side Villarreal.

During last Monday’s training with his Swiss Challenge League Leaders, The FC Zurich defender injured the same finger again.

Since joining the club, Bangura has only made two League appearances and will now miss important upcoming matches including their Europa League away tie to Steaua Bucureșt on Thursday.

Zaingallay scored his first league goal in Zurich 5-0 thumping of Wohlen at the Niedermatten stadium on Sunday 2 October.

Bangura was part of the FC Zurich’s side that suffered a 2-1 defeat in Spain to Villarreal in the first round of the Europa League ground stage.
In August 2016 he signed a three years contract with Swiss second-tier side FC Zürich.
