Sivasspor confirm the signing of Malian keeper

Turkish club Sivasspor have completed the signing of Malian international goalkeeper Mamadou Samassa.

Free agent Samassa, 29, has signed a two-year deal with the Super Lig side after his contract with French club Troyes came to an end.

The club statement reads: “Sivasspor signed a two-year contract with Mamadou Samassa at our Istanbul office effective from the 2019-2020 season.

“He has played for the Mali national team 14 times. We welcome Mamadou Samassa to Sivas. We wish success under Demir Grup Sivasspor.”

Samassa was born in France and started his youth football with Collinee-Le Gouray, Pef Ploufragan and Guingamp where he also started his senior career in 2009.

Last season he was a regular with Troyes featuring in 37 Ligue 2 matches. He represented France at youth level before switching his allegiance to Mali.

Liberia top-flight club, LISCR head coach, Tapha Manneh is among 13 other applicants listed for the Wakiso giants Job.

A total of 14 coaches named on the list below with one of them hoping to take charge of the Purple sharks as they prepare to have a long stay in the Uganda Premier League.

Wakiso giant outfit is a Ugandan football club based in Wakiso District. They compete in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League they played their home matches at the stadium, Lugogo.

The Purple Sharks gained promotion to the top tier after topping Elgon Group with 41 points during the 2018/19 season. Wakiso is arguably one of the most populated districts in Uganda and over 20km from the Capital, Kampala.

The CAF B qualified coach has made himself a name in the Liberia football arena by winning the double last season.

Speaking to this medium, the Gambian said he is focused on his current job of winning the FA Cup with LISCR.

“It is a dream of every coach to try something new, whenever an opportunity presented itself. I will be humble to receive it, but for now, I am focused on my present job with LISCR.”

“I cannot say further, let see how things go till the end of the season,” he told our African correspondent in Liberia.

Migné names Kenya final AFCON 2019 squad

Sébastien Migné has confirmed his 23-man final squad that will board the plane to Egypt, as Kenya bid to challenge for the biggest prize in African football.

The Harambee Stars french coach has omitted four from an initial 27-man squad that is in camp in Paris, France, among them Christopher Mbamba, who has failed to recover from an ankle injury he picked up in his last match before checking into camp.

Kenya and Ghana qualified for this months tournament following Sierra Leone disqualification by the Confederation of Africa Football last year.

The team is getting set for their final pre-AFCON friendly match against the Democratic Republic of Congo, set to be played on Saturday, June 15, 2019, in Madrid, Spain.

Stars will then jet into Egypt on June 19, 2019, five days before their opening match of the tournament against Algeria.

Marshall Munetsi pens Stade de Reims deal from Pirates

Zimbabwean-born Marshall Munetsi has signed for French Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims, the club has confirmed.

Munetsi joined the Buccaneers in 2016 from FC Cape Town before went on loan at Baroka FC that same season.

The 22-year-old‚ who can play in defence or midfield‚ was an instrumental figure for Orlando Pirates this past season.

He had been linked with a move to clubs in France and Belgium in recent weeks.

The defensive midfielder was born in Mabvuku, Zimbabwe. He started playing football in his home country.

At the age of 16, he devoted himself fully to football until he joined the South African club FC Cape Town.

Joseph Yobo backs Super Eagles for AFCON glory

Former Nigeria defender, Joseph Yobo, believes Super Eagles will impress during this month’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

Gernot Rohr’s side will be making a return to the biennial tournament since Yobo captained them to their third title in 2013, having missed the 2015 and 2017 editions.

“I’ve played with a squad full of talented and established players, yet we finished third on three occasions [2002, 2004 and 2006],” Yobo told Sun Nigeria.

He added, “In 2013 we had an inexperienced squad, but we ended up as champions. Kudos to our late coach Stephen Keshi for such a brave move.

“Nigeria is a massive country. Football easily generates different opinions among the populace, because we all love the game.”

Nigeria three-time champions will compete against Guinea, Madagascar and Burundi in Group B at the Nations Cup.

They’ll open their Afcon campaign against Burundi on 22 June at the Alexandria Stadium, Alexandria.

The former Eagles skipper in hoping experienced midfielder Mikel Obi will help the younger players.

ACC lodge appeal against SLFA’s boss Johansen and Kamara

Sierra Leone Anti-Corruption Commission, ACC have lodged an appeal against Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Isha Johansen and Sec-gen Chris Kamara.

ACC boss in Photo tweeted, “The ACC has filed an appeal in the Matter: State V. Isha Johansen and Christopher Kamara.”

Johansen, who is presently the only female football chief in world’s football, was acquitted and discharged alongside sec-gen Kamara of all charges on May 27, in a Freetown Court after seven months of Fifa suspension.

As a result, FIFA lifted the suspension imposed on Sierra Leone over alleged government interference.

“The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Sierra Leone wishes to inform the general public, that it has on the 6th June, 2019, filed a ten (10) grounds Notice of Appeal in the Court of Appeals of Sierra Leone, against the judgment of the High Court of Sierra Leone in the matter of intituled The State Vs. Isha Johansen and Christopher Abdul Kamara” read a statement.

Meanwhile, Johansen and Kamara were recently pictured in Paris ahead of the 69th FIFA Congress that was held at the Expo Porte de Versailles in Paris, France, on 5 June 2019.
