Sierra Leone’s Bell-Baggie signs for National League side Eastleigh

Winger Abdulai Bell-Baggie has joined English National League side Eastleigh Football Club from Weymouth.

The Terms of the contract were undisclosed. 

 The 28-year-old was pivotal during Weymouth’s play-off campaign last season and was also a member of the squad that won the Southern League Premier two seasons ago.

 The Sierra Leone international has acquired lots of experience playing in the Football League clubs such as Tranmere Rovers and Rotherham United as well as Non-League clubs Poole Town and Stockport County.

 Bell-Baggie made his senior Sierra Leone debut in a 1–0 defeat to Cape Verde at the Estádio da Várzea in a World Cup qualifier on 15 June 2013.

Baggie has also played for England at both under-16 and under-17 levels.

Kargbo Jnr makes Dinamo Kyiv debut in cup win over Minai

Ibrahim Kargbo became the first Sierra Leonean native to get a taste of Ukrainian football after he was introduced in the 61st minutes during Dinamo Kyiv 2-0 Semi-final cup victory on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old, who has played for the Belgian U-18 team, made his official match debut for the club in Wednesday’s cup tie. He was introduced as a replacement for Fran Sol in the 61st minute.

Mikkel Duelund scored a brace for Dinamo in the opening 40 minutes of play. As a result, they advanced to the final of the Ukrainian Cup.

Kargbo, a former Crystal Palace youth player penned a three-and-half year deal with Ukrainian top-flight side FK Dynamo Kyiv after leaving Belgian club KSV Roeselare in December 2019. 

Initially, the son of former Sierra Leone skipper took part in friendly matches of Kyiv during their winter training camp in Turkey.

The former Crystal Palace player last played for Lierse Kempenzonen on loan from Roeselare in Belgium. 

The young attacker is still eligible to play for Sierra Leone despite representing Belgium at youth level.

Remy Tazifor returns to training after Covid-19 lockdown

Cameroonian-born Remy Tazifor returned to first-team training three months of no football due to the coronavirus pandemic in the United States of America.

“It feels good to be back to work and ready to get back it, I am excited.” said the 6 feet tall Limbe born player, on Saturday.

Michigan Stars FC has recalled their players as all National Independent Soccer Association clubs were given the green light to return to group training early on Monday.

The Stars published on their Twitter account showing several players including Remy Tazifor alongside teammates taking part in the session at the famous Total Sports Complex in Wixom, Michigan.

The National Independent Soccer Association officially kick off on 8th August at various member venues.

Tazifor was signed by Michigan Stars earlier this year ahead of their inaugural professional NISA season.

Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen named Lille Player of the season

Nigerian international striker, Victor Osimhen was named Lille Player of the season after his excellent start to life in French football.

The news was announced on their official twitter page, and the club thanked the fans for voting.

Osimhen, 21, registered 18 goals on his debut French League 1 season and recorded four assists after 38 appearances in all competitions.

The striker, who recently lost his father to the cold hand of death was also named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season.

He was also named Charleroi’s player of the season before his 10 million pounds summer move to Lille Metropole.

The Former Wolfsburg forward is still in the race for the Marc Vivien Foe award, along with his Super Eagles teammate, Moses Simon who was also named Nantes’s player of the season.

Latest reports suggested that clubs in England, Italy, and Spain are showing interest in the striker, but his club has said they will only do business for a transfer fee in the region of 80 million pounds.

Ismael Bennacer on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar 

Paris Saint-Germain are ready to approach AC Milan for Algerian midfielder Ismael Bennacer. According to Le10Sport, the French giant will submit a €30 million offer for the Algeria international once the transfer market reopens.

Bennacer, who joined Milan from FC Empoli August, has impressed in his first season at the San Siro after 23 appearances for the Serie A club in the current campaign.

The former Arsenal midfielder was named as the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Player of the Tournament after helping Algeria to the continental crown in Egypt last year. Bennacer played youth football for France before committing his allegiance to Algeria for whom he has won 22 caps since making his debut four years ago.

The 22-year-old played just the one game for Arsenal’s first team in 2015 before moving to Italy on a permanent deal three years ago.

Nigerian striker Ighalo extends Manchester United contract

Nigerian International forward Odion Ighalo has extended his loan deal at Manchester United until January 2021.

Ighalo is expected to continue his United career when the Premier League season resumes on 17 June.

United are fifth in the table, three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea with nine games to play.

Ighalo, 30, who joined United in January from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua, initially until 31 May, has scored four times in eight appearances for the Old Trafford side, including a goal in the 5-0 Europa League win over LASK on 12 March, which was United’s last competitive match before the season was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic.
