A determined Egyptian side walloped the Ghana Black Stars 2-0 in their 2018 World Cup qualifying Group E clash at the Alexandria’s Borg El-Arab Stadium on Sunday.
Goals from AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah and Abdallah El-Said gave Egypt a valuable 2-0 home win over Ghana to help the Pharaohs make a noteworthy pace in their bid to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1990.
The Group E leaders Egypt, who have not lost in any home World Cup qualifier since 2004, will take on Uganda in two home and away matches next year.
Egypt leads the group with six points, two clear of Uganda who defeated pointless Congo 1-0 on Saturday.
Ghana are third on in the group and their hopes of making a fourth successive World Cup appearance are hanging by a thread.
In the other group match, Uganda are now second in the group, two points behind Egypt, following their 1-0 win over Congo Brazzaville in Kampala on Saturday.
The Democratic Republic of Congo regained first place in Group A on goal difference from Tunisia after a 2-1 comeback victory over Guinea in Conakry.
Bolasie and Kebano goals in the 54th and 56th minutes destabilized the Guineans at home.
Only the top five group winners will represent Africa at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Chelsea pair Mikel John Obi and Victor Moses played from the start as Nigeria beat Algeria 3-1 on Saturday at the Akwa Ibom Uyo Stadium in the race to Russia 2018.
Inform Chelsea’s winger, Victor Moses scored twice as the Super Eagles warmed up for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Victor Moses scored a solo goal in the 25th minute before Mikel, Chelsea’s outcast wheels to slots in the Eagles second in the 43rd minutes just before half time.
However, the Algerians cut the deficit with a goal from Nabil Bentaleb, who after missing one of Algeria’s better chances of the first half fires a rasping drive into the roof of the Nigerian net from 25 yards, a superb goal from the midfielder with serious talent.
Victor Moses sealed the Eagle’s victory with his second to tighten Nigeria’s grip on a seriously tough Group B.
The victory takes Super Eagles to the top of Group B with two victories from the qualifiers, ahead of the Cameroon and Zambia.
Only the top team from the five groups in Africa will qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Sunderland’s striker Wahbi Khazri scored a penalty in the second half as Tunisia beat 10-man Libya 1-0 in a 2018 World qualifier in Algiers on Friday night.
The victory takes Tunisia to the top of Group A with two victories from two group games, ahead of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Guinea who meet on Saturday. Libya are bottom with two consecutive defeats.
Following a largely uneventful first-half, the game opened up in the second stanza as both sides looked to get the vital three points.
In the 50th minute, Libya’s Ali Salama gave away the foul in his own penalty area, and with it also his second booking of the game to see his team playing a man short.
The Ajaccio forward Khazri converted the spot-kick even though Libya keeper Muhammad Nashnoush had dived the right way.
Even though they were playing with 10 men, the Mediterranean Knights still pinned their opponents back but Tunisia eventually held on to record a vital win.
Only the top team from the five groups in Africa will qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Sierra Leone international stopper, Solomon Zombo Morris is likely to miss the next three Quevilly Rouen matches against Bobigny, Sedan, and Paris FC after suffering a muscle tear in his upper right leg in their 1-1 draw against Creteil at the Stade Dominique Duvauchelle.
He was substituted in the 33rd minute after he suffered the problem following a goal kick.

Morris confirmed his setback to footballsierraleone.net after a medical assessment at the Clinique de I’Europe hospital.
“In my last action at the Stade Dominique Duvauchelle, I got a muscle tear and I was disappointed because it was all going fine after getting back to the first team.”
“I’m disappointed, but it is not a big issue,” he said.” I will be out in this Sunday’s cup game & maybe the next two or three matches,” Morris told footballsierraleone.net.
Morris has made four appearances this season since his side was promoted to the third-tier of the French football system.
He has been a regular figure for the Sierra Leone National side since his first international call-up in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualification match against Tunisia

The Secretary-General of the world football governing body, FIFA, Fatma Samoura, (Pictured with SLFA boss Johansen) will arrive in Sierra Leone to meet with SLFA officials on 15 November, before her proposed meeting with President Koroma.
Samoura’s visit may play some part in resolving the on-going ACC investigations against the country’s football association (SLFA), the wrangling with rival members and the 2014 match-fixing allegations.
This was first communicated to the Sierra Leone Football Association in an official letter dated September 16, 2016. In the same letter, Fifa backed Isha Johansen over the use of funds.
It would be recalled that SLFA president Isha Johansen was detained and questioned for alleged mismanagement of funds received by the SLFA since February, by Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Few days after she was released without charge, the world football body, Fifa has said in a letter to the SLFA that there has been no ‘misuse of the funds’ it has given to the Isha Johansen’s administration.
A FIFA statement said: “Fifa has no reason to suspect there has been misuse of funds that Fifa has provided to the SLFA.”
“FIFA urges the relevant Sierra Leone authorities – in particular the Ministry of Sports and the Anti-Corruption Commission – to allow the SLFA to conduct its affairs and activities without unnecessary obstruction as no FIFA regulations have been contravened with regards to the FIFA funding.”
However, since Johansen was elected president of the SLFA unopposed on 3 August 2013, there has been on-going unrest in the running of football in the country.
On several occasions, the world body has disapproved of Johansen’s rival members and governmental interference in the running of football in Sierra Leone.
Most recently top football stakeholders are calling for Congress they said they will boycott any attempt by the football body to revive the domestic league without holding congress first.
Fifa in a recent letter sent to the FA stated: “Fifa would like to demonstrate to the government of Sierra Leone that it is fully committed to supporting the development plans and programmes for football in Sierra Leone that have been presented by SLFA President Johansen,”
“We would like to pay a courtesy visit to the President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma, as well as the Minister of Sports, the Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission and the three-person committee currently conducting the SLFA match-fixing enquiry,” Samoura wrote.
“We kindly ask the SLFA to contact the above-mentioned authorities to arrange such a visit on behalf of Fifa.”
There is an on-going match-fixing investigation of 15 national team players and officials. The 15 are alleged to have been involved in fixing the outcome of a Nations Cup qualifier against South Africa in 2008 which ended in a goalless draw.
In 2014, the Sports Ministry and SLFA in a joint statement have said the two institutions received “credible and tangible information” on the alleged involvement of the group in match-fixing.
