The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Tunisia referee, Sadok Selmi as the man in charge of Group F AFCON qualifier between Ethiopia and Sierra Leone on Sunday, September 9 at the Hawassa City International Stadium.
Selmi will be the centerman and will be assisted by Libya’s Attia Amsaad as Assistant Referee 1 and his countryman, Aymen Ismail as Assistant Referee 2.
Quite recently, the Tunisia official was in charge the CAF Champions League tie between South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Horoya AC of Guinea, a match which the South African side was eliminated from the competition.
Selmi display received a lot of bashing from the Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane who has coached the South Africa senior team against Sierra Leone.
Mosimane slammed the opposition for time-wasting tactics and officials for turning a blind eye to infractions.
“You will never see a referee add seven minutes like we have seen here in the PSL when there has been an injury or time-wasting,” the Sundowns coach claimed.
“This is why we are behind in Africa from our Europe counterparts. Everywhere we played; people were falling all over the place and wasting time.”
The Walias are going into the match lying at the bottom of group F with zero points after losing 4-0 away to Ghana in their opening match while Sierra Leone is in second tied on three points with Ghana who has a superior goal.
Sierra Leone, on the other hand, defeated Kenya 2-1 in their opening Group F clash in Freetown.

Ethiopian national team coach Abraham Mebrahtu has confirmed his 23-man squad ahead of Sunday’s African Cup of Nations Group F qualifiers against Serra Leone at the Hawassa stadium.
Coach Mebrahtu slim down his squad from 32 to 23 after last Sunday’s friendly match Burundi at the Hawassa stadium as they increase preparation for their second Group F tie with the West Africa side.
The 23 players are;
Goalkeepers: Samson Assefa (Dire Daoua), Teklemariam Shanko (Hawassa) and Tsion Merid (Arba Minch).
Defenders: Abdulkerim Mohammed (St. George), Henock Adugna (St. George), Aschalew Tamene (St. George), Salhadin Bargecho (St. George), Ahmed Reshid (Ethiopia Bunna), Anteneh Tesfaye (Dire Daoua), Mujib Kasim (Adama Ketema) and Amsalu Tilahun (Fasil Ketema).
Midfielders: Gatoch Panom (El Gouna / Egy), Mulualem Mesfin (St. George), Shimelis Bekele (Petro Jet / Egy), Amanuel Yohannes (Ethiopia Bunna), Biniam Belay (Eskenderbeu / Alb), Nathnael Zeleke (St. George).
Attackers: Abel Yalew (St. George), Getaneh Kebede (St. George), Addis Gidey (Sidama Bunna), Daoua Hutiessa (Adama Ketema), Behailu Assefa (St. George) and Oumed Okuri (Smouha SC / Egy).

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) will on Saturday 8th September swear in LISCR Football Club Chairman Mustapha Raji as President.
This comes after former LFA’s Vice President 1 Musa Shannon step down four days to the elections.
According to Mr Shannon, who said on ECOWAS radio that his reason to step down is in the best interest of Liberia football and nothing political.
Raji has been the favourite with an expected 22 votes out of the 34 voting delegates making it impossible for the former LFA Vice President 1.
“I want to respect the decision of my brother I believed he did it in the interest of fair play and Liberia football we are going to work together to Developed and Promote Liberia football, “he told www.footballsierraleone.net in Monrovia.
“There is no winner or loser in this contest. We all just need to work together for the betterment of Liberia football.”
Meanwhile, the outgoing LFA’s boss Musa Bility has confirmed in a statement transferring authority to new President-elect Mustapha I. Raji.
Mr Bility in a communication to football stakeholders said he was informed by the LFA Secretary-General that one of the Presidential candidates Musa Shannon has withdrawn from the race.
“I’ve just been informed by the SG that Mr Musa Shannon has withdrawn from the upcoming Presidential Election. With this information, I wish to inform you that the process of Transition will start immediately”, Bility wrote stakeholders.
The LFA has been in Leadership crisis for about eight months now the stepping down of Musa Shannon for the Saturday race will make way for a new leadership from Musa Ability who took office in 2009.

Sierra Leone international, Alhassan ‘Crespo’ Kamara, has signed for Greek Super League club Panetolikos on a two-year deal on Sunday.
The striker, who a few days ago departed BK Häcken arrived earlier in Agrinio to complete the deal with Panetolikos. Breaking: Alhassan Kamara leaves BK Häcken by mutual consent
Kamara, 25, made two goals in his last 14 appearances for the Swedish club this season.
After signing his contract, he told club’s website, “I’m happy to be here. I know I came to a very good, organized and ambitious club. I look forward to being a member of the team quickly to help her achieve our goals and through my everyday effort to become even better. “
Since joining Häcken in the summer of 2016, from Örebro SK, he went on to play over 38 total Swedish matches for BK Häcken during his two-year stay at the club.
The striker started his career with FC Kallon before moving to Sweden to joined Bodens BK on 29 July 2011 on loan, scored five goals in his five months on loan in 10 games for Boden.
The agile striker on October 2011 after his impressive form with Boden signed for AIK where he had never made any impact.
On 24 January 2013, Kamara was sent on loan to Örebro SK, for the rest of 2013, before Örebro SK decided to sign him on a permanent deal.
He was ruled out since early March 2015 after picking up Lower body injury and was allowed to rest for the season.
The Former AIK striker was Orebro most outstanding striker towards the end of the 2014 season scoring 14 goals in 14 games but was unfortunate ahead of the 2015 season.

Sierra Leone attacking midfielder, Abdul Buduski Sesay, scored on Saturday for his Finnish Kakkonen side as they defeated Tampere United 2-0.
The midfielder took his tally across all competitions to three goals in fourteen appearances.
Sesay scored TP47 opener against Tampere United away from home in the 76th minute after a goalless first half.
The Sierra Leone International, who was initially named in Leone Stars 35-man squad for AFCON qualifiers against Ethiopia, Ghana said he was happy.
“I was happy because winning and helping the team is important considering our position.”
“We are going through a difficult season but we still have five games to turn our season around,” Sesay told Football Sierra Leone.
George Junior Tangko completed the victory for the struggling TP47 in the 80th minutes.
The win means they are second from bottom. However, they are still a contender to be relegated this season.
Meanwhile, Sesay is not part of the Sierra Leone team final list of players for the September 9 African Cup of Nations qualifier at the Hawassa international stadium.
