Sierra Leone Premier League leaders Kamboi Eagles suffered their first loss of the season after 1-0 defeat to FC Johansen on Wednesday in Freetown.
Forward Melvin Davies’ scored the only goal for the host inside the opening five minutes of play.
The victory was a crucial three points for the host team who move to fifth place on the log with 13 points after their third straight win of the campaign while Eagles remain top of the table with 19 points five clear of second-place side FC Kallon.
Speaking to FSL News after Wednesday’s match, Johansen boss Abdulai Kaloga Bah said his side have been playing well despite results have not been forthcoming.
He also admitted that they are still in the rebuilding process.
“We deserved to win because we have been playing well. However, we are still in the process of rebuilding the team to reach its full potential.”
“The team spirit and confidence is improving match after match since our first victory. That has been the turning point to our season,” he told FSL News.
Before the game, Kamboi Eagles played seven games without conceding a single goal winning six and a draw.
Later today, Mighty Blackpool who has been struggling this season will host Freetown City. One of Sierra Leone’s most decorated side (Mighty Blackpool) with one win in their last seven games.
FCFC, on the other hand, are second from bottom after five defeats in eight league matches played.

Sierra Leone native Josh Koroma is excited about joining League One leaders Rotherham United on loan for the rest of the season.
Koroma, 21, who was a National League winner with Leyton Orient last season joined Town in the summer on a three-year contract, with an option to extend.
“I’m excited, and I just want to get started now, to be honest,” he told the club’s website.
“I’ve been waiting to play games, and I can’t wait to go out to show what I can do.”
“We’re in a good position, so hopefully I can help us push for promotion. I’ve seen quite a bit of footage I know we’ve got the best goal difference in League One, but I’m an attacking player, and I want to help us score more.”
The former Orient striker has made nine first-team appearances for the Terriers this season, including seven in the league.

The Confederation of African Football’s (Caf) Executive Committee has voted not to renew the mandate of Fifa’s secretary-general Fatma Samoura who had been working as General Delegate for Africa for the past six months, BBC Sports reports.
Samoura was given the role from 1 August 2019 by football’s world body following a reported request by Caf.
Fifa confirmed that Samoura’s mandate had come to an end on 1 February 2020 and that the global body’s six-month mission in Africa had been “completed successfully.”
At its Executive Committee meeting in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday, Caf’s members also agreed to analyse Fifa’s set of findings, recommendations and proposals.
On Saturday, Fifa’s president Gianni Infantino spoke to Caf members at a seminar in Morocco on the development of African football where he proposed that the Africa Cup of Nations be held every four years rather than two.
He also said he wants to create a pan-African Super League with 20 permanent member clubs and build new stadiums in every member African country with $1 billion US dollars earmarked to finance the program.
Fifa also confirmed on Sunday that, as agreed at the beginning of its mission in Africa, a “forensic audit report produced by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC)” had been presented to Caf.
Caf thanked Gianni Infantino and Fatma Samoura for their “commitment and involvement in the Caf-Fifa cooperation.
In a press release signed by Caf’s secretary-general Mouad Hajji, African football’s ruling body confirmed it had decided to “continue with the implementation of reforms.”

Sierra Leone was eliminated from the FIFA U20 Women World Cup qualifiers on Saturday after a goalless draw at the Pikine Stadium in Senegal in their return leg match.
The Young Queens were defeated in the first leg contest at the Bo City Stadium Southern province Sierra Leone a fortnight ago.
As a result, Senegal will face Tanzania in the next round of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after a 1-0 aggregate win.
Sierra Queen’s coach Alhaji Foray felt disappointed after his side missed a few clear chances that could have overturned the result.

Sierra Leone U-20 women’s national team will square off their Senegalese counterpart in the return fixture in Dakar on Saturday.
Head Coach Alhaji Foray is fully aware of the job at hand. One goal deficit a fortnight ago means the young Sierra Queens must be at their best if they to overturn the first-leg defeat.
Coach Foray, aka Abedi, is optimistic they are up for the task as his side looks to reach the next phase of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
“After our last training session yesterday, I was satisfied, and I believed the girls are well prepared. They ready to overturn the first leg result,” Foray told FSL News.
“I’m optimistic that this is the right time for women’s football to develop in Sierra Leone. They’re ready to surprised Sierra Leoneans. It’s time to focus on female football,” Foray aka Abedi noted.
The winner over two legs will progress to face the winner between Uganda and Tanzania in the next round.
Meanwhile, Tanzania U-20 Women’s team won the first leg after coming from a goal down to overcome neighbours Uganda in the first leg of the preliminary with Uganda hosting the return leg in Kampala on 2nd February 2020.
