Sierra Leone youngster, Augustus Kargbo, says he’s excited about the prospect of facing Spanish La Liga side Getafe.

Kargbo’s Serie B side FC Crotone will take on the Spanish side in a friendly match tomorrow 19:00 hrs at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez stadium in Spain.

“I’m looking forward to the gain more experience playing against the La Liga side Getafe, ” Kargbo told FSL News.

“Despite it is friendly, I’m excited because as a player, you learn a lot in some of these types of matches ahead of a new season.”

“Our preseason has been good. I’ve played in three matches scored three goals.”

“For me, the important aspect is Just to keep up learning every day.”

Kargbo, 19, in June, signed his first professional contract with Serie B FC Crotone.

The deal will run until June 2022.

Just after his first pro-contract, he told club website “I am really very proud and happy to have signed my first professional contract.”

Kargbo, who had a spell with Campobasso in the Italian Serie D, has been a productive young player last season with Crotone.

Mohamed Daramy was named in the Copenhagen’s starting squad and the Sierra Leonean native was impressive as they beat New Saints 1-0 on Wednesday at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Jose Carlos aka Zeca’s stunning second-half strike proved to be pivotal as the Danish side advanced with a 3-0 on aggregate.

The New Saints bowed out of the Champions League despite a spirited performance.

Saints, who had lost 2-0 in the second qualifying round first leg, drop into the Europa League.

The two legs of this year’s Uefa Champions League third round qualifiers will be played on August 6 and August 13.

Sierra Leone’s Sesay joins Finnish side Oulun Luistinseura

Sierra Leone’s midfielder, Abdul Sesay, commonly known as Budushi, has joined his fourth Finnish Kakkonen side Oulun Luistinseura from JS Hercules.

Sesay, 27, has parted ways with Hercules three months after returning to the club where he played during the 2017 season.

Confirming the news, Oulun Luistinseura has said that the Sierra Leone international will play the rest of the season with them.

On the international stage, Sesay has won six caps for Sierra Leone scoring twice.

Sierra Leone defender agrees HIFK contract extension

  • Sierra Leone defender has agreed on HIFK contract extension
  • Hassan Milla Sesay has penned a new deal with the Finish top tier club until 2020.

HIFK Fotboll Club has confirmed they will use the option in Sesay’s contract to extend until the end of 2020.

The 2018 Ykkönen Champions signed the former FC Lahti and Sierra Leone defender on a one-year deal in January with an option to extend.

Sesay has been pivotal in the division with a total of 221 matches in the Veikkausliiga, the last 15 of which he has played for The Reds.

“The versatile Sesay has generally enjoyed himself as a left-winger but has also been able to play a more offensive role,” the club said in a statement.

“Sesay has been on the IFK regular lineup this past season and has played full minutes in 15 matches, scoring one goal. Besides, his impressive performance was also noticed outside the club when he was selected to the Veikkausliiga team of the month in June.”

Sesay, 31, before moving to HIFK played over 125 matches with FC Lahti.

Hailing from Sierra Leonean parents’, the Walthamstow-born Kevin Wright believes representing his parent’s country of birth will make them proud.

Wright, 23, the left-back, who has trained with the very best at Chelsea joined Swedish Allsvenskan side Orebro SK in March.

He has been a pivotal figure for the Swedish side since his move. He scored on his debut in a friendly against IFK Mariehamn.

He joined Chelsea’s academy in 2005 as a U-10. During his time with the Premier League side, he progressed through the ranks as a regular under-18 player and was part of the nextgen and UEFA Youth League tournaments.

“Representing England or Sierra Leone will make my parents proud, although I was born in Walthamstow, London,” he told FSL UK.

“International football at this stage will be an amazing experience for me. My parents would be proud of me representing any country. It’s always a great achievement, England or Sierra Leone.”

He confirmed that he has never represented England at any level.

“Unfortunately, I have never represented England at any stage, but that doesn’t stop me enjoying my football.”

On the Swedish League

“I have been impressed with the Swedish league the good facilities. It’s a very competitive league.”

“Football is football whether you’re in England or not the basics are the same, but you have to be good on the ball with good ability to do well anywhere.”

Midfielder Suleiman Samura pens first Pro-contract

  • Midfielder Suleiman Samura has signed his first Pro-contract

USL Championship side, Fresno Football Club, have confirmed signing midfielder Suleiman Samura on a pro-contract for the remainder of the 2019 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval.

Samura, 22, becomes the club’s fourth signing from the 2018 Fresno FC U-23s side to join the Foxes’ pro roster. Samura will wear the No. 16.

“Sully is another player from our U-23s that I liked and kept my eye on. He’s very hardworking, physical and able to cove a lot of ground in that middle area,” Smith told the club’s website.

He added, “I’ve been very happy with him, seeing growth and maturity and confidence. The next test is if he can earn his stripes and get minutes.”

He has had a spell with Laredo Heat SC of the National Premier Soccer League, making seven starts. In 2018.

He made three appearances with the Fresno FC U-23s and scored a goal in the club’s 3-1 win over Southern California Seahorses before he was sent on trial with the pro side at the end of the 2018 USL League Two season.

He featured in the club’s exhibition against the Vancouver Whitecaps reserves. With Laredo, Samura made seven starts during the 2019 NPSL season.
