Striker Alhassan Kamara returns to Sweden

  • Sierra Leone striker Alhassan Crespo Kamara has returned to Sweden after his Greece top-tier side granted his wish to leave
  • He joined the club on a two-year deal in September 2018
  • Panetolikos announced on their website that Kamara has asked to leave

“I want to come home and do my rehab properly. If I’m still in Greece then I can’t do the rehab the way I want,” he told Aftonbladet in Sweden.

“This ‘goodbye’ is a very emotional moment. Unfortunately, very difficult personal reasons compel me to leave the group. The people of Panetoliko and Agrinio, in general, have a special place in my heart. I’ll never forget Panetolikos,” Kamara said in a statement.

The club in return thank Kamara, “We thank Kamara for what he has offered to Panayetoliko and wish him every good on a personal and professional level.”

The former Örebro and Häcken was an instrumental figure for the Greek side scoring four times in all competitions before he was injured in December 2018.

The Sierra Leone international was recently pictured in active training in preparation for a return to action after a year out of active football.

Former Leicester City academy player Alie Sesay signed for Azerbaijan side Zira FK

Sesay was in the academy at Arsenal, before joining Leicester City in 2010

He last signed for Bulgarian Efbet Liga side FC Arda Kardzhali after his spell with Greek side AO Chania Kissamikos

Sierra Leone defender Alie Sesay has signed for Azerbaijan top-flight side Zira FK on a one-and-half-year-deal.

Sesay, who departed Bulgarian Efbet Liga side FC Arda Kardzhali due to lack of playing time is set to revitalise his career.

He made over 27 matches in Greece before joining FC Arda Kardzhali and was one of the clubs’ best defenders.

The Sierra Leone international, who came through Leicester’s academy also played over 35 matches for the Swedish side Täby kyrkby in the Superettan league during the 2017/18 seasons.

Sesay, who can play across the back four and in central midfield, has previously, had loan spells at Colchester and Cambridge United.

International level

Sesay has won eight caps for Sierra Leone. He made his debut for Sierra Leone during the 2015 African Nations Cup qualifying match against Cameroon in Yaoundé October 2014.

He played in Sierra Leone 1-1 draw against Lesotho and 1-0 defeat in Benin during their 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifying matches.

Faroe Islands’ top-tier side NSÍ Runavík sign midfielder Sankoh

Faroe Islands’ top-tier side NSÍ Runavík have confirmed the signing of Sierra Leone international Alfred Sankoh.

“I signed a two-year deal and hoping to do my best with this club. I turned down offers from Turkey to joined a very ambitious club,” Sankoh explained.

“Alfred Sankoh is a 31-year-old and is one of the strong and strong midfielders. He is coming to strengthen the NSI team, and we are delighted to have him in the yellow blouse,” the club said in a statement.

The last two season, the club has been finishing in the top three in the Betri deildin Premier League.

They were eliminated by Northern Ireland side Ballymena United during the first round of 2019 Preliminary Europa League qualifiers.  

The midfielder played last season with second-tier Norwegian side Notodden FK.

Sankoh started his career with Strømsgodset in May 2008. In July 2012, Sankoh signed a three-year contract with TFF First League side Şanlıurfaspor. Two years later, in July 2014, Sankoh moved to Khazar Lankaran, signing a two-year contract.

Red hot Mustapha Bundu target for European quartet 

 Sierra Leone and AGF Aarhus winger, Mustapha Bundu has been linked with four European clubs AS Monaco, Lille, Anderlecht and Trabzonspor are all after the signature of the 22-year-old.

Bundu’s AGF deal is set to runs out in summer of 2021 and is yet to pen a new deal with the Danish Superliga team.

The Sierra Leone international has scored eight goals, and five assists in 20 matches played in this campaign.

His firm form has attracted interest from French duo; AS Monaco- who want to sign and send him out on loan in Belgium- while Lille eager to add him to their ranks, according to several reports from Denmark.

Also, Belgium side, Anderlecht have joined the chase for the offensive player so do Turkish giant, Trabzonspor who are said to be keen on having him on loan from his Danish side, AGF.

Bundu who was on holiday in Freetown is said to be weighing out his options remain undecided were next to go as he is still under a contract with the Danish club, but any big money offer could tempt the Superleague side to sell.

In September 2016, the Sierra Leonean youngster signed a one-year loan deal with Danish top-flight league club with an option to extend his contract. The deal for the former Craig Bellamy Foundation (CBF) player came after he successfully underwent a weeklong trial with the Danish club.

 Three months later, the Danish Superliga team said confirmed on their website that the Sierra Leone youngster has signed a new four-year extension deal until summer 2021 saying the player has an indisputable potential.

Winger Alhassan Koroma nets first Real Balompédica goal

Sierra Leone-born Alhassan Koroma scored his first maiden goal for Real Balompédica Linense in the Spanish third-tier league Segunda B in their 2-1 win over Talavera de la Reina on Sunday.

The match was played at their Estadio Municipal de La Línea de la Concepción stadium.

Koroma, 19, who was making his ninth appearance, double his side lead in the 78th-minute en-route to victory in front of the homes fans.

Its was back to back victory for his side following their 1-0 win over San Fernando Club Deportivo before Christmas.

The East End Lions on loan player started the game on the bench and was subbed on the 71-minute replacing Alberto Malagón Tito.

Koroma, who started his career in Port Loko District, Northern Sierra Leone with Marampa Stars FC, joined the Spanish outfit in July on a loan deal.

Mustapha Dumbuya set to continue US spell with Tampa Bay

Mustapha Dumbuya, 32, is set to continue his stay in the USA with St Petersburg Florida-based side Tampa Bay Rowdies.

USL Championship side ended last season as the 5th best Eastern Conference side, have added vital defenders to their ranks ahead of the 2020 season.

Three-time USL Championship All-League First Team selection Forrest Lasso and last season USL regular-season titleholder Mustapha Dumbuay among the players signed for the new campaign.

“Dumbuya signed on a one-year contract with a club option in 2020, pending league approval. Per club policy, further contract details were not disclosed,”the club confirmed on their website.

The former Partick Thistle defender last played for Phoenix Rising FC in the USL Championship’s Western Conference, where he won the USL regular-season title.

The Sierra Leone defender made 28 appearances as Phoenix’s first-choice right-back in a record-setting season that saw Rising FC set a league record with 78 points.

Dumbuya has had spells in England for Doncaster Rovers, Crystal Palace, Portsmouth, Crawley Town and Notts County. In Scotland, Partick Thistle and Falkirk FC.

The right-back is a Sierra Leone regular first-team player with 12 caps to his name in FIFA World Cup and African Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
