Alhassan Kamara nets Halmstads winner after 19-months out injured

  • Sierra Leone striker Alhassan Crespo Kamara scored his first Swedish Superetan goal for Halmstads BK first team after 19-months out injured.
  • His goal came in the 81st minute in their 3-2 win over Vasteras SK on Wednesday.
  • The former Orebro BK striker was introduced in the 77th minute replacing Mikael Boman to make his first senior appearance for the club.

He last played a top-flight game for Greek side Panetolikos, where he scored four times in all competitions before he suffered a serious injury in December 2018.

Thomas Boakye opened the scoring for the visitors in the third minute but his goal was cancelled fourteen minutes later by Vasteras’ Karwan Safari.

Samuel Kroon restored Halmstads lead in the 51st minutes from the spot before Brian Span draws the game level in the 73rd minute of play.

Matchday winner Kamara registered the vital goal three minutes after he was subbed on assisted by Karim Sadat.

As a result, Halmstads standing second behind Degerfors with 19 points from their opening nine matches.

Meanwhile, early this month, he scored for the HBK U21 side against IS Halmia at the Örjans Vall in a friendly contest.

  • LA Galaxy II striker Augustine Williams, speaking to Football Sierra Leone’s website, has said that he is happy with his scoring form and aiming to keep the momentum going.
  • The Sierra Leonean-born has scored twice in his last four games in the USL Championship.
  • His second came as the winner over Sacramento on Sunday at their Dignity Health Sports Park.

It was a good goal from a man who signed his first pro-contract in 2016 with Portland Timbers 2.

“It was important for us to win against San Diego Loyal and the Sacramento Republic. Its feels like I am in good form right now because I am performing well, ” Williams to FSL online.

“I have two goals one assist in the last three games, a good moment for me right now.”

When asked about the standard of the USL, he noted; “The USL is going great and we were excited to be back.

“The USL is competitive and tough whenever we get out there to put in the work to make sure we get the 3 points.

“I would say it is a great feeling knowing that we have been back, and I was able to get a couple of goals, and assists.”

“I’m happy and excited about my form right now. I hope that I can keep that same momentum going forward. Stay on the task to help the team get the job done.”

Galaxy II currently sit second behind San Diego Royals, who they will face again on Thursday in the USL Championship.

AGF confirm Mustapha Bundu tested positive for Covid-19

  • Sierra Leone international Mustapha Bundu has tested positive for Covid-19 and will miss today’s away tie against Nordsjælland, AGF Aarhus have confirmed.
  • The Danish top-flight side confirmed the news after there weekly Corona test conducted according to the Divisional Association’s guidelines.

AGF Aarhus says Bundu is in quarantine at home, and will not be available for today’s match against FC Nordsjælland and also will miss the next match which is on Sunday against Brøndby IF.

Bundu, 23, is a pivotal player for the Danish, this season he has scored ten goals in 21 appearances.

In a statement, AGF noted, “After Tuesday’s test, Bundu’s result came out as positive. He is symptom-free, and we now follow the guidelines from the Divisional Association for people who have tested positive. This means that Bundu will now stay at home for the next seven days – counting from Tuesday.”

The 20-year-old has scored nine times in the Serie C campaign this season from 23 appearances with Reggio Audace helping the side to the playoff finals.

“As a team, we want to win, and I am looking up to the biggest game of my career,” Kargbo told Football Sierra Leone hours before kickoff.

“It’s the most important game of my career. The pressure is huge. However, we are professionals and must be calm and ready to digest the experience.”

The former Eskilstuna City player is determined to stay on the goal trail to boost Varnamo’s chances of maintaining the top spot.

“I am doing well because my coach, who was a top player and teammates are helping me with my goals, and I am happy about that most especially for the team.”

“I’m the leading scoring in my club, and third in the league. We are top of the table after nine matches. I’ve started in all games for Varnamo.

“I’ve got six, for now, and I want to keep on going to score as many as I can, ” he told Football Sierra Leone news.
