Striker Buya Turay makes first Hebei China Fortune start in defeat

Mohamed Buya Turay made his first full debut for Chinese Super League side Hebei China Fortune FC in their 3-1 away defeat against Beijing Guoan on Wednesday.

As a result, Beijing Guoan recorded their fourth straight win in the Chinese Super League (CSL).

Turay, 25, who completed his move to the CSL top-tier side, played the full throttle of the game and bookmarked his name on the assist list.

An own goal from Hebei Fortune’s Yuning Zhang gave the home side the opening lead inside the first five minutes.

Beijing Guoan double the scoreline through Yuing Zhang in the 54-minute assisted by Renato Augusto.

Hebei China Fortune reduced the deficit in the 78th minute Xuesheng Dong scored assisted by new acquisition Turay as they rally a comeback.

The home side ensured maximum point when Xuesheng Dong completed the victory with a 90th-minute effort.

It was Turay’s second appearance his first was when he was subbed on in the 72-minute in their 2-2 against Chongqing Lifan last Friday.

Hebei Fortune China have lost two of their last four games in Group standing second from bottom.

Their next outing is against Tianjin Teda Bright on Monday.

CSL sixteen teams campaign were divided into two stages: the group stage and the relegation/championship knockout stages with Group A, teams are based in Dalian, while Group B teams in Suzhou.

RSC Anderlecht complete striker Mustapha Bundu signing

R.S.C. Anderlecht have completed the signing of Sierra Leonean international Mustapha Bundu on a four-year deal. Anderlecht announced the move on their official Twitter account. Bundu, 23, is the club’s third signing in two weeks after the club signed Ukrainian left-back Bogdan Mykhaylichenko from Zoryan Luhansk and South African attacker Percy Tau.
Bundu has been added to a long list of Sierra Leonean internationals already trader in Jupiler-pro-league. The likes of Lamin Conteh, Ibrahim Obreh Kargbo, Ibrahim Junior Parade Koroma, Paul Pkapa, Musa Jarzihno Kanu, Ahmed Kanu and Mustapha Sama, to name a few. The former Hereford attacker, who scored a total of 21 goals in 109 appearances for Danish club AGF Aarhus between 2016 to 2020, will be hoping to impress in his new adventure under Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany.
Speaking to the club’s website, Bundu said, “I am delighted to be signing for Anderlecht.  This is the perfect place for me to further develop myself as a player and contribute to the attacking football Anderlecht likes to play.”
Born in Sierra Leone, Bundu started his career at the Craig Bellamy before moving abroad with after obtaining a student visa to study at Hartpury College to pursue his football career. After his impressing form with Hereford FC winning three trophies, he went on a trial to Danish club AGF Aarhus in the start of August 2016 before he was signed on a permanent deal until summer 2021. On the International stage, Bundu received his first international call-up in August 2018, being a member of a preliminary squad but did not make the final 23-man squad. The striker finally made his debut in a 3–1 World Cup qualifying defeat to Liberia on 4 September 2019. Christian Caulker makes Maryland bobcats debut

  • Keeper Christain Caulker made his Mid-Atlantic Conference side debut for Maryland bobcats on Thursday in a barren draw against New Amsterdam FC at Evergreen Sports Complex.
  • Caulker was named in the Bobcats’ first-team squad in matchday two of the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) cup competition.
  • The Sierra Leonean keeper joined the club in February this year, but the Covid-19 pandemic forced the league to scrap this season. However, the NISA event has given all clubs a chance to compete.

Meanwhile, matches in the region were suspended Thursday, August 6th due to weather.

The clubs and league are working together to determine when the matches will be replayed.

Last Sunday, Maryland Bobcats played to a 1-1 against FC Baltimore Christos. Tunde Akinlotsu gave FC Baltimore Christos a 28th-minute lead before Kay Banjo knotted things up, converting a penalty kick in the 84th minute.

On the final day on Sunday 9th, New Amsterdam plays FC Baltimore while the Cosmos takes on Maryland bobcats.

This year Mid-Atlantic Region NISA cup matches between Maryland Bobcats, New York Cosmos, New Amsterdam, and FC Baltimore, are a round-robin tournament with every team taking on each other once and the champion being crowned off of the total number of points.

All Independent Cup matches are streamed on the league website.

Rodney Strasser returns to action in TPS first win of the season

  • Midfielder Rodney Strasser made his third Veikkausliiga start in their 3-2 away win over Rovaniemen PS on Saturday having missed their last three matches.
  • The Sierra Leone international was making his return to competitive football for the first time since suffering from a muscle injury in their 1-0 defeat to Ilves Tampere July 7.

TPS’s new head coach Jonatan Johansson will be pleased after his side registered their first win of the season after their opening five straight defeat standing second from bottom.

TPS opened the scoreline in the 13th minute through Juhani Pikkarainen after an impressive start. The home team draw level in the 40th minute from Enoch Banza.

Ivorian player Muhamed Tehe Olawale put the visitors ahead in the 67th but with just five minutes plus added time the host level things up through Juho Hyvärinen in the 85th minutes.

However, TPS winner came in the 88th minute when Tatu Varmanen assisted Jonni Peräaho, who slotted home from close range.

“I think we were better in the whole game, we got off to a great start,” Pikkarainen who scored TPS opener said after the win.

Transfer News: AGF striker Mustapha Bundu spotted in Brussels

  • Belgian top-flight side Anderlecht have confirmed their interest in Sierra Leone and AGF Aarhus striker Mustapha Bundu.
  • The price tag is expected to be in the region of €3.000.000.
  • Bundu, who scored ten goals and eight assists helping his AGF side to achieve their best finish to a Danish Superliga campaign since 1997, was spotted in Brussels.

Pieter-Jan Calcoen, a football journalist for leading Belgian newspaper HLN, confirmed that the striker is in negotiation but no deal yet. However, Martin Kring another journalist posted on his twitter account that Bundu was with a Dortmund logo in one of his masks.

His fine form this season also attracted interest from newly-promoted French Ligue one side Lorient and Turkish giant, Trabzonspor.

In September 2016, the Sierra Leonean youngster signed a one-year loan deal with Danish top-flight league club with an option to extend his contract. The deal for the former Craig Bellamy Foundation (CBF) player came after he successfully underwent a weeklong trial with the Danish club.

Three months later, the Danish Superliga team said confirmed on their website that Bundu has signed a new four-year extension deal until summer 2021 saying the player has an indisputable potential.

The Sierra Leone International opened the scoring for his side in the 45th-minute as he bookmarked his second of the season en route to their 3-0 home win.

The victory means Breidablik await their opponent in the Milk Cup quarter-final.

With two more goals from Gísli Eyjólfsson in the 66th and Brynjólfur Willumsson 85th respectively were enough to overpower their visitors. 

Gísli, who scored Breidablik’s second of the day and Kwame were Balika’s most lively players in the first half. 

Breidablik last won the Cup in 2009. Nonetheless, Quee won it with Víkingur Reykjavík while on loan last season.
