QPR defender Osman Kakay ruled out for up to six weeks

  • Queen Park Rangers have been dealt a blow after their Sierra Leonean defender, Osman Kakay, was ruled out for up to six weeks with an ankle injury.
  • The former Partick Thistle right-back confirmed the news to FSL News.

Kakay, 23, was forced off during Saturday’s defeat by Reading and has missed Stoke City at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium as the two sides played out a drab goalless draw on Tuesday night.

It means Kakay, who has been in excellent form, will miss important matches coming against Wycombe, Swansea, Norwich and Luton Town.

Meanwhile, the London club has been without a win in six matches after a 0-0 draw against Stoke and resulted in them sliding towards the Sky Bet Championship relegation zone.

In-form Alhaji Kamara nets Randers fourth in a row

  • Inform Sierra Leone striker Alhaji Kamara has been instrumental in the Danish Superliga as he registered his fourth in their last four games and was named Man of the Match. 
Kamara, 26, was again on target in Randers FC 3-1 win over Vejle Boldklub on Friday in the 3F Superliga at Cepheus Park.
 
The victory means Randers moved up to fourth with 19 points for 12 games, while Vejle is stuck in tenth place five points behind.
 
His 47th-minute goal cancelled out Wanhid Fagjir of Vejle opener before Vito Hammershøj-Mistrati, and André Rømer completed the victory in the 67th and 71st minutes respectively.
 
Kamara equalized came two minutes of the restart when he nicely dribbled a Vejle defender to bookmark his fourth goal in a row.
 
The equalizer raised momentum as substitute Vito Hammershøj-Mistrati headed the home team in front from a corner, and shortly after midfielder Andre Rømer settles the scoreline from the 11-meter spot.
 

Soaring Kamara has now scored six goals in last six games for club and country counting his double against Nigeria in the African Cup of Nations qualifier at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

Augustus Kargbo opens his Reggiana Serie B account

Sierra Leone-born Augustus Kargbo netted his first AC Reggiana goal in 3-0 win over AC Monza at the Mapei Stadium on Sunday.
 
Kargbo, 21, on loan from Crotone, opened his account this season in the 71st minute to double the host lead after Igor Radezza had put his side ahead in the 55th-minute.
 
The goal was his first for the club since his move on a second loan spell with the Italian Serie B side.
 
Simeone Mazzocchi completed the win in the 88th minute as they move up to 11th on the log.
 
Having helped the Reggiana 1919 gain promotion to Serie B, Kargbo will be hoping this is first of many for the Reggio Emilia-based outfit this season.
 

It was his winning goal over Bari at the Mapei Stadium Città del Tricolore in the Serie C playoff final on July 22 helped Reggiana gain Serie B promotion.

Koroma scores again as Town ease past Kakay’s QPR

  • Sierra Leone native Josh Koroma was again on target as Huddersfield Town registered a 2-0 win after a much-improved performance at home defeating Osman Kakay’s QPR on Saturday.
 
  • Huddersfield Town after their last defeat to Cardiff ensure they produced an impressive display to inflict a third successive defeat on a lacklustre Queens Park Rangers.
 
Josh Koroma, 22, scored his side opener with his fifth of the season after he picked up the ball close to half-way to curled a right-footed effort into the top corner.
 
He was the provider for the second as his well-timed pass after a lovely, flowing move allowed Harry Toffolo to slot home from close range.
 
The victory was marred, however, when Huddersfield captain Christopher Schindler appeared to suffer a serious knee injury with 15 minutes left and the Austrian needed oxygen before he was taken from the field.
 
The Terriers move up three places to 13th in the Championship while QPR drop to 18th, four points above the relegation zone.
 
Sierra Leone International Osman kakay was an unused substitute at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Defender Ishmael Koroma over the moon with Ettan Norra achievement

  • Ishmael Koroma says he was ecstatic after his Swedish side Vasalunds IF won the 2020  Ettan Norra Divison 1 season.
  • The first major achievement of his playing career as they ended the season as champions with 69th points and Koroma says he was ‘over the moon’ with his team’s achievement and development.

The team was impressive under head coach Dalibor Savic’s responsibility and has been almost unbeatable as they registered 88 goals a record in Ettan Division 1 Norra.

Koroma, 24, who made 15 appearances in all competitions having played less than expected stated he was elated at the prospect of playing the second league in Sweden next season after promoted. 

“We played well through the season to get enough points, work as a team and because of that, we are overall champions,” the former Atvidabergs FF man told FSL News.

“An amazing feeling to be a champion with Vasalund. I must state I am proud despite not having a great season in terms of more games I would have loved to but winning our group as champions must be every player’s dream.”

“I am relishing the prospect of the Swedish Superettan. My contract will finish in November, but hopefully, I will be discussing my future after the festive holidays.”

“It’s something special as I have always wanted to be a champion where ever I go or play.”

The new Swedish season will commence in March 2021, and Koroma can’t wait to start at the second-highest level of Swedish football.

“I am so looking forward to helping the team in the best way possible when the new season starts in March.”

Josh Koroma nets Huddersfield winner in five-goal thriller

  • Josh Koroma grabbed Huddersfield 85th-minute winner as they edged Middleborough 3-2 in the Sky Bet Championship game at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.
  • Huddersfield registered a fine three points against Neil Warnock’s side.

Boro started well with a 14th-minute opener from Marvin Johnson before Carel Eiting level things in the 37th minute assisted by Josh Koroma.

Former Crystal Palace attacker Fraizer Campbell gave the home side the lead just before the break.

Congolese Britt Assombalonga scored for Boro from the spot to make it 2-2. The penalty was awarded after Sarr brought down Assombalonga in the 83rd.

In the 85-minute, it was a strong display from Josh Koroma, who held of his man in the area and exquisitely curled an effort into the back of the Boro net to secure a vital three points for his side.

The goal was his fourth of the season in fourteen matches played in all competition.

Meanwhile, Norwich remain top of the Championship despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Coventry.
