Sierra Leone midfielder John Kamara signs in Romania

Sierra Leone midfielder John Kamara has signed for Romanian Liga 2 side Politehnica Iași until the end of the season with an option for next season.

Poli Iași is a Romanian professional football club based in the city of Iași, Iași County, competing in Liga II.

Kamara, 33, last played for Azerbaijan side Kesla where he made five appearances before the African Cup of Nations with Sierra Leone.

During the 2020/2021 seasons, Kamara played 23 times for Keshla in the Azerbaijan top-flight. He made a total of 64 appearances in all competitions for Kesla since the 2018/19 seasons.

Politehnica Iași – is Kamara’s eighth professional club since 2008 when he first join Tadamon Sour.

The former Riga and Kaysar defensive midfielder admitted his delight after he penned the deal with Politehnica Iași.

“I’m delighted to be here in Romania and cannot wait to get started. I am pleased to start a new chapter in my career as I look forward to meeting my new teammates, and as always, ready to help the club,” Kamara briefly told FSL News.

In his career, Kamara has had spells Tadamon Sour (Lebanon)Apollon Smyrnis(Greece), PAS Lamia (Greece)Aris Saloniki (Greece), FC Riga (Latvia), Kaysar  (Kazakhstan) and Keshla Azerbajain.

Politehnica Iași will host FC Astra Giurgiu on Saturday, but Kamara will not be available to make his debut until next week.

Kwame Quee makes debut in Najran’s away victory

In Saudi Arabia – Sierra Leone midfielder Kwame Quee made his debut for new side Najran in their 2-1 away win over Jeddah at the King Abdullah Sports City Jeddah on Wednesday.

Quee, 25, the club’s new acquisition, was pleased after making his first appearance.

The host opens the scoring in the six-minute through Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Fouad and looks set to go into the break with a goal lead before Faisal Al Shammari draw parity in the 45-minute.

After a couple of missed attempts for the home side in the second half, Najran’s Salem Al Saleem scored the winner in the 69-minute.

The host rallied for a late equaliser but to no avail as both teams ended the contest with 10-men.

The victory means Najran up to ninth on the log with 37 points after 27 matches in the ongoing Saudi Arabia second-tier season.

The Sierra Leone international will have the opportunity to play in front of the home fans on Wednesday when Najran host Al Adalh.

Genoa and Sierra Leonean attacker Yayah Kallon is happy to have made his come back from injury.

Yayah has been on the sideline missing three months since November 2021 due to a muscles injury. His last game was in the 2-2 Empoli (05 NOV 2021). 

Kallon, 20, who made his return in the draw against Inter Milan last Friday, February 25th, says he was pleased to be back.

“I was out for three months, but I am delighted to be back,” He told FSL News. 

“The first part of the season, I thought I did very well, but I sustained an injury that has kept me out for the last three months. So, I am pleased to be back fully recovered.

“Against Inter was my first game back. It’s great to be back. It’s been a long road.”

Kallon replaced Kelvin Yeboah in the 61st-minute to bookmark his sixteen appearances of the season last week Friday. 

The Rossoblù presently second from bottom as they battle to escape relegation from Serie A.

Kwame Quee joins Saudi Arabia side Najran SC

Saudi Arabian first division side Najran SC has announced the signing of Sierra Leone midfielder Kwame Quee. 

Najran says they have completed the contract procedure of Sierra Leone International.

Najran Province-based outfit currently competing in the Saudi first division league announced the news on Wednesday.

Quee, 25, last played in the Icelandic top-flight where he won double the Iceland title and 2021 Icelandic Cup last season, making 25 appearances, including five Cup games, scored four goals for Víkingur Reykjavík.

The former FC Johansen player won his first Icelandic Cup in 2019 with Víkingur Reykjavík on 14 September at Laugardalsvöllur while on the first spell at the club on loan.

Overall, he has had spells with Doutcher United, where he started his career, Sierra Rangers, Papa Jack FC before joining FC Johansen in 2009.

In Iceland, Quee has had spells with Víkingur Ólafsvík, Breiðablik and Víkingur Reykjavik. He played in all Sierra Leone African Cup of Nations matches in Cameroon this year.

Sierra Leone defender Kevin Wright pens IK Sirius deal

IK Sirius Fotboll have announced the signing of Sierra Leone defender Kevin Wright on a two-year deal until 2024.

The former Fredrikstad defender has been handed a new chance to continue his trade with another Swedish side.

The 26-year-old spent the last two seasons playing for Örebro in the Swedish top-flight, where he made 68 Allsvenskan performances.

“I think Sirius’ style of play suits my way of playing football. I’m an offensive wingback. I like to come forward offensively and hit posts. I like to dribble and I like to show my qualities. Since Sirius plays with wingbacks, I think that this way of playing means that I will bring out most of my qualities, ” Wright told the club’s website. 

On 24 October 2016, Sirius defeated Halmstads BK 1–0 as they were promoted to the Allsvenskan for the first time in 42 years since the 1973–74 season.

Early career

Wright joined Premier League giants Chelsea at aged 11 and worked his way through the youth ranks to earn his first professional deal at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2013.

He was part of Chelsea‘s academy in 2005 and went on to play for the club’s development squad between 2014 and 2016 before his departure.

Koroma looking forward to new FK Turan adventure

Former FC Johansen defender Raphael Koroma is looking forward to a new adventure in the Kazakhstan Premier League after signing a one-year contract this month.

The defender, who last played for FC Sucleia, a second division team in Moldova, admitted of a great feeling to be a professional.
