Sullay Kaikai nets first Dons goal in Oxford draw

Sullay Kaikai nets first Dons goal in Oxford draw

Sierra Leone attacker Sulllay Kaikai got his first goal for MK Dons in their 1-1 draw against Oxford United at the Stadium MK on Saturday.

Kaikai scored the Dons’ opener in the 25-minutes, but Lewis Bate’s 71st-minute superb goal earned a point for Oxford at MK Dons as a reward for a much-improved second-half performance by the visitors.

The draw means Dons remain one point clear of the League One relegation zone, just their third home win of the season.

The hosts were ahead when Sullay Kaikai was allowed to cut inside from the left before he found the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Having opened his account for his new club, Kaikai should have had his second when he shot wide of an open goal from Tennai Watson’s cut-back.

The Sierra Leone international, 27, who made ten appearances this season for the Wycombe Wanderers goal was not enough to win it for his new side.

Their wastefulness came back to haunt them in the 71st minute as Bate drew Oxford level with a wonderful strike from outside the box that flew into the top corner.

Sullay Kaikai: I’ve settled in quickly

Sullay Kaikai: I’ve settled in quickly

Milton Keynes Dons’ new signing Sullay Kaikai admitted he has settled in quicker after his first two games for the club.

Fellow English League One side MK Dons have confirmed the signing of Sierra Leone International Sullay Kaikai until the end of the season following his departure from rivals Wycombe Wanderers.

Kaikai, 27, played ten games this season for the Chairboys, who he joined in 2021.

The Sierra Leone International was handed his debut in their 2-0 defeat in front of home fans at their Stadium MK last weekend to Exeter City.

And the new boy was part of the Dons’ 2-0 away triumph as Bristol Rovers slumped to defeat at home.

Goals from Mohamed Eisa in the opening third minute and Max Dean’s 91st minutes were enough as Don’s moved out of the relegation zone.

“It’s been great. I’ve played back to back 90mins. I have settled in very quickly with the group, which also helps. We play a good style of football – which I am enjoying,” Kaiaki told FSL News after their away win.

“I am pleased and looking forward to continuing to help the team.”

Dons’ next outing is at home against Oxford United as they push to avoid the drop zone.
