Five straight defeats in their last six Austrian top-flight games have plunge Sierra Leone international, George Davies side SKN Pölten into a deeper relegation mire.
Davies, 21, who joined from German second division SpVgg Greuther Fürth on a three-year contract until the summer of 2020, has only made seven appearances for the Pölten this season amassing 188 minutes on the pitch of play.
A brace from SV Mattersburg’s attacker Smail Prevljak in the 49th and 63rd minutes and another for defender Alois Höller on Saturday sank the home side further into the Austrian Bundesliga relegation quicksand.
A sequence of consecutive defeats has seen them first from the bottom with only seven points losing 17 matches.
St. Pölten, who achieved promotion into the Austrian Bundesliga by winning the First League in 2015–16, have only won once in 22 league matches this season.
Their next outing is away to league leaders Red Bull Salzburg on Sunday – a very tough away tie for the league’s bottom club. They were defeated 3-1 by Salzburg at home in November 2017.
St. Pölten will be desperate for a win against the leaders Salzburg to end a run of 5 Austrian top-tier games without a victory.
