Víkingur Olafsvík midfielder Barrie pleased with impressive start

Midfielder Sorie Barrie says he was pleased with Víkingur Olafsvík impressive start to their opening 2019 season in Iceland.

Barrie, who has been a pivotal player for the Icelandic second-tier said, maintained he is looking to help the team to a new height this season.

He was in action as they eased passed IF Grotta 2-0 last Sunday and expected to be part of the Olafsvík side facing KF Haukar today.

Barrie to FSL website: “I was happy with our opening victory because we have worked hard during pre-season in Spain. So our opening victory to honest I enjoyed it.”

“I’ve settled in quite well and ready for this new season. We’re like a family at the club we try to help each other on and off the pitch.”

“My expectation for the new season, I want our team to move forward, and win Trophy this campaign by the power of God.”

He was the captain and scorer for the Sierra Leone side that eliminated Cameroon from 2016 Olympic Games football qualifiers in May 2015 under John Keister.

He joined the Icelandic second-tier side on loan from FC Kallon in January 2018.

Randers eye move for Sierra Leone striker Kamara

The Ekstra Bladet reported that Randers have are in pole position ahead of other top clubs in Denmark for 25-year-old Kamara, whose contract ends with Vendsyssel FF on June 30.

The Sierra Leonean striker has hit the ground running since joining Vendsyssel with four goals in eight matches.

One of the goals he scored was against Randers in a 1-1 draw in April at Cepheus Park Randers.

The Allsvenskan winner is expected to play his last two matches for Vendsyssel FF when they take on AC Horsens in the first leg of the relegation playoff race for survival on Sunday at Nord Energy Arena.

Kamara has had spells with IFK Norrköping, Johor Darul Ta’zim FC, DC United, Richmond Kickers, Al-Taawon, FC Sheriff.

Bundu named in Danish Superliga’s April team of the Month

Sierra Leone youngster Mustapha Bundu has been named in the Danish Superliga team of the Month for April.

Notably, the attacker scored two goals in his last three games in April helping AGF to secure their league status.

His goals against AC Horsens and Sønderjysk won him a spot in the team announced on the Danish Super League website.

The former Bellamy academy graduate has enjoyed an average campaign with the Whites, scoring four vital goals and made five assists in 28 appearances.

Last Sunday, he was instrumental in their 1nil win over AaB Aalborg in the first leg of the Europa League playoffs, their return fixture is this Sunday 12th May at the Ceres Park.

Kissamikos’ defender Sesay pleased with first season in Greece

Former Leicester City defender Alie Sesay has admitted that he is pleased with his first season in the Greek Football League with AO Chania Kissamikos.

Following a difficult start to life in Greece, the Sierra Leone defender noted that they were able to turn their season around.

Sesay, 24, who signed a year deal with the Greek side in August last year, after departed Swedish side IK Frej, was an instrumental figure for the club.

“Our season has been really good, we had a really bad start securing five points from our first 8 games,” he admitted.

“We were bottom of the league, but we fought hard to turn it around and finished in 6th place, conceding 24 goals, which is the second lowest in the league,” Sesay explained to FSL.

“As a club, we kept 12 clean sheets so a massive positive for me as a defender. I was happy to be such an influential player as I’ve played the most minutes in the whole team.”

The former Barnet defender, who can play across the back four and in central midfield added, “With hard work, I played 25 from 29 games due to suspension in the league. Including three cup games so an overall positive good season.”

Last season, Sesay played over 35 matches for the Swedish side IK Frej Täby in the Superettan league.

He has previously traded with Colchester and Cambridge United.

He signed first professional contract 15 March 2013, with Leicester City, alongside Australian Callum Elder.

Persipura Jayapura move excites midfielder Conteh

Former PSIS Semarang midfielder Ibrahim Conteh says he is excited to start his new adventure with Persipura Jayapura after agreeing on a one-year deal.

The Sierra Leone midfielder has impressed since his move to Indonesia in 2015 from FC Kallon.

After penning his new deal with the Indonesia Liga 1 side, Conteh told the FSL website: “I’m delighted.”

“They are the team that have won most trophies in the country, so I will be happy to be champion with them.”

“I am excited with my new challenge. I’m looking forward to helping the team as much as possible.”

Conteh, 22, is no stranger in the league; he has been living in Indonesia for almost five years now.

He has had spells with Pelita Bandung Raya, Barito Putera, PS TNI and last season PSIS Semarang, where he featured in 29 matches scoring 5 goals and made 5 assists.

Trevoh Chalobah pays tribute to relegated Ipswich Town

Sierra Leone-born Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah on Sunday took to Twitter to express his appreciation after his loan spell come to an end with Ipswich Town.

Chalobah, who was on loan from Chelsea was part of the Paul Lambert side that became the first team to be relegated in the English Football League this season.

The younger defender joined Town on a season-long loan from Chelsea in June 2018.

He posted an appreciation and thank you message to the club that will be playing League One football next season.

“Although the season hasn’t gone as the team would have liked, I’d like to thank everyone at @IpswichTown for accepting me as one of their own,” the Chelsea player stated.

“I’ve learned a lot and have always given my all for the club. Good luck next season, I hope to see you back in the Championship soon ?.”

The Tractor Boys despite already relegated, defeated promotion-chasing Leeds United 3-2 on Sunday in their final Championship league game.

Trevoh, 19, who has international experience with England U19’s and played a part in the European Championship last summer will return to Chelsea ahead of this summer pre-season.
