Breaking: Viborg striker Moses signs contract extension

Viborg FF striker Christian Moses has signed a new two-and-a-half year permanent contract extension to stay at the club until summer 2021.

Moses, 25, who joined Viborg Jan 10, 2018, on loan in the previous deal, has scored three times in the last six NordicBet Liga matches.

“I am very happy. It is a great opportunity for me to get a permanent contract in Viborg,” Moses told the club’s website.

“I am very happy to be here and am very motivated to continue my hard work for the team. We have big things to achieve and I look forward to the next few years in the club,” said the in-form attacker.

Sports Manager Jesper Larsen is also pleased to have Christian Moses on a permanent contract:

“Christian has already proved he is a good player for us. He is an unorthodox attacker with great potential, and at the same time, he is an amazing player and person to work with, Larsen on the club’s website.

“He works hard for the collective every day, and of course, we are really happy to continue the cooperation.”

He accounted for 9 goals in nineteen appearances before leaving Vendsyssel last season.

He is on the final 23-man squad named by Sierra Leone coach John Keister for the trip to Ethiopia.

Sierra Leone will take on the Walias in one of the Africa Cup of Nations qualification Group F ties on September 9th.

Kei Kamara’s goal in the 68th minute gave Vancouver Whitecaps a 3-2 comeback win over the San Jose Earthquakes in Major League Soccer action last Sunday night.

The Earthquakes held a 2-0 lead after the first half, but the Whitecaps scored three unanswered goals in the final 45 minutes.

Kamara scored the winner when unmarked, he put in a pass from Yordy Reyna during a quick counterattack.

Defender Aaron Maund started the play by lobbing a long pass to Reyna.

The Sierra Leone striker, who is expected to lead the Leone Stars attack In Ethiopia has scored 11 times this season including 4 assists.

Vancouver extended its unbeaten streak to five games. The Caps also posted their first-ever MLS win in San Jose.

Both Kamara and Reyna had a goal and an assist for the Whitecaps, while Cristian Techera scored the all-important equaliser for the victors.

In the Icelandic second-tier

Kwame Quee registered his ninth goal in seventeen appearances this season for UMF Víkingur Ólafsvík in their 2-1 away win over Leiknir Reykjavik last Friday.

The hosts started the contest in a resilient mood but it was the visitors who got the better of the opening 9th minute with a goal from GZ Leon.

Quee scored his goal and Vikngur’s second late on In the second half.

He converted a spot-kick 12 minutes to full time for his ninth of the season.

QPR defender Osman Kakay raring to go after first Sierra Leone call-up

Queens Park Rangers defender Osman Kakay has stated his happiness and he is ‘raring to go’ after his first call-up to the Sierra Leone national team.

Kakay, 21, is on Coach John Keister’s final 23-man squad for the September 9th away 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia.

He has been a vital player under former England manager Steve McClaren at the Championship Club, playing three of their opening five matches this season.

“It feels great, my dad has been the big influence in making my decision. It has come at a good time and I am raring to go,” Kakay told Football Sierra Leone UK.

“He has told me how big the importance of football in the country and how big the opportunity is and I’m really happy to be part of the Sierra Leone team,” he added.

He reiterated, “It is a great honour to be called up to the national team. I feel proud that I will able to represent my country and be a part of big things to come. “

“Very excited because it’s a chance for me to showcase myself as a player and for our team to create something special.”

Kakay, who made his debut in QPR’s 2-1 victory over Rochdale in the EFL Cup tie in August 2016, is aware of the physicality playing in Africa.

“I know African football can be very physical with a lot of quality as well. I am confident that both attributes suited to me so I believe I will adapt well.”

“I am looking forward to it a lot. I’ve heard a lot of positives especially when the team plays at home the atmosphere is very good so i can’t wait for the experience.”

His first professional debut was in the Scottish Championship in January during a loan spell with Scottish side Livingston.

In Scotland, he played 12 times for Livingston.

On his experience playing for QPR, Kakay noted, “It has been good to be given the opportunity to play the first few games and I have adapted well to the league. I am hoping to get more appearances during the season so I can continue to improve as a player.”

In-form Viborg FF striker Christian Moses has declared himself happy after netting three goals in his last two NordicBet Liga matches.

In today’s home draw, the Sierra Leone-born scored Viborg’s 5th minutes’ opener in their 2-2 draw with FC Fredericia.

Last Wednesday in the Danish second-tier league, Moses scored a brace and one of his goals was a brilliant long-range effort against Silkeborg in their 3-2 away victory.

Moses, who has now registered three goals in his last six matches, is determined to help Viborg secure promotion.

“I am happy with my goals so far because it is helping the team, Moses told Football Sierra Leone UK.

“One of my goals against Silkeborg was really good because I received lots of congratulation messages.”

“Now, I am hoping to carry on scoring goals for the team.”

Viborg currently sit third spot, six-point adrift of league leaders HB Køge.

He scored nine goals last season while playing for Vendsyssel FF and three goals for Viborg FF after his move.

John Kamara upbeat about Sierra Leone’s 2019 qualification

Kaisar FC midfield enforcer John Kamara is optimistic and looking forward to Sierra Leone’s September 9th African Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia in Hawassa.

Kamara, who played some part in Sierra Leone’s 2-1 victory over Kenya in the qualifiers opener in Freetown, is confident that the experience gained over the years will help Leone Stars quest of qualifying for the tournament after 23 years.

The country has failed to compete on the continental big stage since 1996 and they are currently placed second behind Ghana in the Group F in the race to Cameroon 2019.

Kamara acknowledged a win in Hawassa against the Walias will strengthen Sierra Leone’s position ahead of the double-header with the Black Stars of Ghana.

“Not only the Ethiopia match but matches against Ghana and Kenya are not easy but we have to believe in our ability that we can make it to Cameroon next year, Kamara told Football Sierra Leone UK.

“Firstly, we have to be positive going up against a resilient Ethiopian team.

“We have the quality all around the squad and we should be confident of a positive result. We were close during the last qualifiers after a 1-1 draw against Ivory Coast in our group final match.”

“However, this time we just have to work hard to deliver and winning this tie will better our chances ahead of games against Ghana.”

After their trip to Ethiopia John Keister’s men will face a tough test against Ghana in October’s doubleheader before embarking on a journey to take on Kenya’s Harambee Stars in November.

Sierra Leone will round off their AFCON 2019 qualifying campaign with a home fixture against Walias of Ethiopia in Freetown in March 2019.
