- Sierra Leone defender, David Simbo, has completed his transfer to Northern Cyprus K-pet Süper Lig side Baf Ülkü Yurdu for an undisclosed fee.
- The club is among the most successful sports clubs in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The 29-year-old centre-back, who was officially unveiled on Friday, has confirmed that he signed a one-and-half year deal.
The former mighty Blackpool defender pictured was unveiled at the Northern Cyprus Football federation office.
“One of our transfer David Simbo is preparing for the new season by working at a busy pace,” the club confirmed on their official Facebook page.
“I’m delighted to have signed a new deal with such am an ambitious club,” Simbo told FSL News. “I can’t wait to get started. Talks have been going on for over a months, but I am happy the deal has been sealed.”
Last season, the agile defender played for Turkish side Kiremithanespor.
Simbo has had spells in Sweden with → Motala AIF (on loan), Trelleborg (on loan), Boden and Sandviken before joining Sudanese top-flight side Al-Hilal in 2014–2015 and later moved to Najran and Krumkachy Minsk in Belarus.
He started his playing career with local club Mighty Blackpool, where he was impressive before moving abroad.

- Kwame Quee scored his first international goal for Sierra Leone against Liberia on Wednesday at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex but admitted his frustration with the result.
Liberia went on to win 3-1 after two late goals from Mohammed Sangare and skipper Sam Johnson. As a result, they travelled to Freetown with an advantage to progress.
The attacker after the match took to Twitter to express his bittersweet experience.
“I’m happy to score my first senior National team goal, but frustrated with the result today. We go again on Sunday home game #wan love salone,” Quee posted on Twitter.
The contest marked Sierra Leone return to international football after a year-long FIFA ban.
Sierra Leone can still qualifier, but their counterparts are with a great advantage ahead of the return leg. The return fixture will be played at the Freetown Siaka Steven Stadium on Sunday.
The defeat was Sellas Tetteh’s first since returning for his second spell.
Meanwhile, Mustapha Bundu, who plays for Danish super league club Aarhus GF, also made his Sierra Leone debut.

Two late goals from Mohammed Sangare and skipper Sam Johnson were enough as Sellas Tetteh’s men suffered a 3-1 away defeat in Liberia against the Lone Star in the first leg 2022 World Cup preliminary qualifier.
Liberia and tiny Red Sea state of Djibouti are the only home winners in eight first-round first-leg ties.
Liberia’s Terrance Tisdel scored from the spot to give his country a one-goal lead in the opening 18 minutes before Sierra Leone’s Kwame Quee level things up 56th-minute second half at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex on Wednesday.
However, if Sierra Leone is to overcome their Liberian counterparts in Sunday’s second leg, they must sort our their defence. The hosts were the better side most of the game but failed to take their chances.
The contest marked Sierra Leone return to international football after a year-long FIFA ban.
The hosts could have been ahead as early as 18 seconds into the game as skipper Sam Johnson fed Kipah Sherman, who hit the post from close range only to see the ball bounce out.
Liberia’s first goal came after ref awarded a penalty when Ishmael ‘Jaw Jaw’ Koroma collided with Sherman but looked a harsh decision from Benin referee Louis Houngnandande.
Tisdell stepped up to score with a decisive strike that gave Solomon Morris no chance.
The Leone Stars of Sierra Leone, fought back in the second half to reduce the deficit with a goal from Kwame Quee, who was unmarked at the back post for an easy tap in following a flick header by Musa Noah Kamara.
Azerbaijan-based midfielder John Kamara missed a couple of good chances as he arrived a few times in the box.
Liberia president George Weah, was in attendance to watched both teams played on a difficult pitch.

- Kamara striker force to lead Sierra Leone attack against Liberia
- Colorado Rapids top scorer, Kei Kamara will pair Sierra Leone Premier League top poacher, Musa Tombo Kamara against Liberia at the Samuel Kay Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville City, kick-off 6:00 pm GMT.

The Ghanaian coach is going with skipper Umaru Bangura and long-time absentee Ishmael Jaw Jaw Koroma in central defense in the absence of David Simbo.

Swedish League 1 Sodra club Åtvidabergs FF, Ishmael Jaw-jaw Koroma, says is he excited to be part of the Sierra Leone senior men’s team.
Sierra Leone will start their FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign today against Mano River Union rivals, with Koroma hoping he can play some part.
The defender is among names of overseas-based players to face Liberia’s Lone Star later this evening at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex kickoff 6:00 PM GMT.
“I’m excited it is good as I’ve always wanted to be part of this family, the Sierra Leone national team, Koroma told FSL Media from Liberia.
“I was with the National Team in 2014, a couple of years back, before I travelled to Sweden, but since then I was waiting for my opportunity.”
The former Nykoping defender added; “I’ve two caps with the National team. In the 2014 Afcon qualifiers, I played against Swaziland when I was subbed on in the second half to play as centre back alongside captain Umaru Bangura. The return leg, I played right-back from the start.”
“I was proud of only these games before I was called up again.”
“After a long time, I get to meet with my national teammates, the old and new faces. Since we are together, we’ve been nice to each other and happy with each other.”
“This is a big opportunity for me. I am happy, and I’m looking forward to playing in this game. Hopefully, we can get the result ahead of the second leg at home.”
